As Venus in Pain formed in the fall of 2005, they had no idea what kind of music would originate from their musical backgrounds. Previous projects of the ViPs varied from pop-rock, alternative rock up to deathmetal bands. Soon it emerged that emotion in all its facettes built the basis of the first jams. Whatever filled the heart of the musicians at that given moment flowed into the notes and rhythms of every song created from their newly united diverse musical roots. Like mankind soars to new creative heights through pain and suffering, like many a man has taxed the source of his inspiration, so did the first songs grow in character. The common contradiction of man needing a Muse and all too often destroying it by his doings is addressed by the band's name Venus In Pain.The band combines uncompromising, powerful guitars, which also encompass spherical clean parts, taking the listener along with the band through the ups and downs of emotions, to make them feel sadness, anger or happiness instead of just passing them by. The songs vary from straight rock and metal passages up to progressive rock parts which are an integral part of the songs and not destroying their structure. The heartbeat of the songs are drum and bass lines which place their own accents while keeping the songs together, yet stillsurprising the listener every time. Seated on this powerful fundament of strings, skins and cymbals are melodically sung vocals, which hold the song parts together by a voice ranging from melancholic to provokingly dark. From gentle to rough, without a mask to protect against the lying eyes of everyday life.

Remember us? You met us after the show in "die Perle von Gent",The Frontline :D We were playing our first round for Emergenza that night and we had enough votes to pass through to the next round. So, a few weeks after, we played the second round of Emergenza in Gent. (in a much nicer club thought :) ) We had to win from 11 other bands to go to Brussels and play the national final of Emergenza. After a while nervous fingerscratching, we really were dumbstruck when we heard the results: our guitarist won the price for 'best guitarist' and Vintage Call won the second round! 2 weeks ago, we played in the 'Botanique' in Brussels in an attempt to win the national final of Emergenza. There was only 1 band of the 14(!) who could win that night. We had to compete with great bands and we end up 6th of the 14. But, our drummer received the price for 'best drummer'.
So, this was the end of our Emergenza-adventure!
