Verbal Warnin' is a roots rock Reggae band. Led by Sekou Nkruma, a reggae singer of considerable history, and featuring several Halifax musicians of note, we seek to recieve and transmit the vibes of a rich musical tradition in the most direct sense. We are working on composing enough origional material to record our own record, projected for release in March, or earlier.

If I would take away my cereal, my trees, my fruits, my oceans, where all the birds will sit and sing? where the horses will run? where would you paint the history of your glories, your great heroes, your victories, your miseries, your love, your hate? What are you waiting for? To see my rivers running dry? Well, I know you, I hear the ones you've buried complaining about you. Have I ever depressed you with my gardens? Did I ever stress you with my perfumes? Go and lay to rest somewhere else. Do you want the sky? go ahead! Clime in the air and re-invent another existence, but out of my life. When I'm cereal you're burning me, when I'm water your polluting me, when I'm air you're contaminating me. You became arrogant and ignorant, your own pride has spoiled you. I cannot take it any longer. Is there some other people who could inhabit me? And respect me for what I am? Some other people who has open ears to listen to my voice when I'm talking? Who has eyes to see the signs of the time and react in harmony with me? Will you oblige me to destroy you? Now listen to my last words I'll have to tell you: I AM THE EARTH, I AM WATER, I AM THE AIR, I AM FIRE, I AM WAITING PATIENTLY, YES I'M QUIET, UNTIL ONE DAY…DON'T THINK YOU CAN SILENCE ME, IF YOU WON'T CHANGE, THE DAY WILL COME I'LL HAVE TO SILENCE YOU!
Do you know how powerful the word really is? The word is arising from the depth of our souls and is the creating power of our conscience. It is the root of our thoughts, the source of our feelings and our doings. The spoken word is its phonetic sound; we use it to communicate, to leave our messages. But we should be more aware of its power, if we listen with more awareness, we can find out a lot about the person who is speaking to us. The word is a mirror of our true state in our hearts. Our language reveals our conscience, our intellect, our moral sense, our social awareness etc. It reveals who we really are! That's why I'm saying we should be more aware of it and care about the word we're speaking, about what we're talkin' bout. The spoken word spread out and as the origin of the word is from the depth of our souls; its energy will touch us again, deep in our hearts.
Music is also a language. The sound, the melody intrudes immediately our souls. Nothing can touch our souls deeper than truly inspired music. Sound and attenuation of a simple note is like the becoming and vanishing of our being, of our existence. Like the sound, all existence inside space and time comes out of nothing, then rises and fills the space and finally remains in silence…“In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God”
In a world with lot of suffering and unfairness- war, mobbing, children dying - your music and your message is the appreciated quantum of solace. I truly appreciate your friendship. True friendship is more than just a treasure, even Gold is more found in the world than true friendship. I wish that you will enjoy a warm advent and Christmas time which is not seized with superfluous consummation but filled with the urgently needed consciousness of righteousness, respect, peace and true love.
We need more fraternity. We should promote and encourage one another. We should help each other. Instead of all that we slander our brothers and sisters to keep our position. Especially we need more consideration towards others. How can we allow circumstances like for instance in La Oroya, Peru (just seek some pictures in google) that the heavy metal industry harms the health of all people living around there - 60% of the population in that area suffer cancer! Plus for that the employees are bad paid the industry very gainful. I mean we are living in the 21st Century and because of acquisitive business poor people get exploited! I reveal to you, SUCH A RUTHLESS IGNORANCE IS DEADLY! This was just one of many examples why our Babylon System fails! Those who have the understanding for to stand up for are with me: While the elites and politics are loosing their authenticity there is more room to provoke agitation. So, there will be some change! And we have to be aware of what we have to change. I promise you wihtout changing ourselves we gonna keep remaining in this doom loop and finally nothing will be changed! If you wanna change your fates game you have to change yourself! Respect each other as yourself. Instead of running after money or being proudly provoking conflicts we d' rather get humble and respectful for we can live in peace.
Though it is quite spoilt by the media HIPHOP will never stop! And if it's not your music, I've chosen HipHop music as a good example to illustrate mind control by the media...Please, check this new blog, it really worth it;-)
