Biography
Lynn VerLayne moved to NYC about six years ago with not much more then a couple of suitcases.
She started studying classical singing, musical theory and piano at age 10.
Though her teacher really encouraged her to continue in the field of classical music Lynn had other plans.
She went to New York, barely 20 years old and started writing pop music.
Though writing wasn't anything new to Lynn. She grew up as the daughter of eccentric writer "Frans "Sus" Verleyen"
who gained recognition as the editor-in-chief of Knack magazine and
passed away when Lynn was fifteen.
"My dad thaught me a lot about life, love and art. I tried to pour all of that into my songwriting."
To write her songs, she borrowed the Steinway piano that ones belonged to Rachmaninoff and that was donated to
the Columbia Medical School after he died. A friend and student would sneak her in there.
Ever since, Lynn's been playing out acoustically and with a full band at venues such as the Bitter End, Rockwood Music Hall and CBGB's.
She stayed in the United States after she was awarded a greencard for extraordinary ability in the arts.
In 2007 , her remarkable jouney was brought to the attention of her home country by the press.
Shortly after, she started working on her first album with the guidance of music industry veteran Alex Trappeniers.
The album is produced by Jo Bogaert (Technotronic, Gabriel Rios), Frank Duchene (Hooverphonic) and Yannic Fonderie (Tom Helsen, Brahim). It was recorded in New York City with the help of musical director Mark Plati (Bowie, Hooverphonic, Prince). Together they gathered a team of some of America's and Belgium's top musicians.
"It was a dream come true to get to work with the people I have."

"Hey Lynn, I wanted to ask you what inspired you to write the song Sky Princess. It sounds very sad. Being different from others and having no one to love you for you can be very difficult sometimes..."
