   Versus Anthology's Blurbs
About me:
I am an anthology set for release in spring 2009 by Press 53 ( www.press53.com ). I will showcase innovative authors taking on the challenge and delight of pitting icons against one another; basically, the formula for a 'versus' story is: "insert name" VS. "insert name." Examples: Jesus VS. Thor, Adolph Hitler VS. Grendel, you get the idea, but you are not prepared for the result; trust me. When I am fully compiled and published, I will blow your mind, and there is nothing you can do to stop me. Bwahahahahahaha!
(By the way, the man behind the curtain of this is Josh Woods, an MFA student at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.)

Hello, VS. Directing your attention to “Potato I Have” at ELIMAE. It’s a derived text that tracks Joyce’s use of the potato - a talisman for Bloom - in Ulysses.

Thanks for adding me. I am flexing my willing, though sparse cerebral muscles and getting ready my deck of cards.

Chuck Norris once sued Burger King after they refused to put razor wire in his Whopper Jr, insisting that that actually is "his" way.

[BTW, someone needs to do a Chuck Norris versus God piece for the anthology. The true literary challenge would be to make it engaging even though the reader knows the outcome already.]

VS accepts this nomination. VS promises to divide the nation into 6.5 quadrants, to hide bejeweled hockey masks in each (which will function as the wearer’s proof of the divine right to rule said quadrant), to randomly FedEx firearms to citizens in these quadrants, and to see who wins.

Wow. I don't know what to comment on. All of those are just bizarre. I have a keen interest in snakes of late, so tell me more about that.

Sheryl Monks at Press53 tagged me before Pinckney officially put it all to an end, so I am ethically bound to at least list my 8 weird or embarrassing pieces of personal information.
1. I have reoccurring dreams where my left leg is much longer than the right.
2. I have been in only 1 illegal arms dealing that involved Soviet rifles.
3. I shamelessly love anything Hellboy.
4. I am scared of Xerxes’ throne on 300 (not of anything else in that movie, just the throne)
5. I have only been to 3 concerts, and unfortunately Kid Rock played a set in 2 of them.
6. I have never broken a bone.
7. Japan’s Light-Heavyweight Shoot Fighting Champion once stole my cheesecake at a buffet (what could I do?).
8. I step on snakes a lot.

Thanks for the add, Versus Anthology. Tell Josh I said, "hello." How about a cage match: Brandon Off His Bipolar Meds vs. Brandon's Mother vs. Siddhartha vs. Grimlock from "Transformers." The short of it: Siddhartha would head for a corner and contemplate. In an opposite corner, drawing from her quiver of Thanksgiving and Christmas disappointments, Brandon's Mother would make quick work of her son, leaving Brandon Off His Bipolar Meds a blubbering wreck. At which point, Grimlock would eat Brandon and his mother. The Dinobot would then head toward the Buddha, who would regard Grimlock with a kind, knowing eye. Siddhartha would then whisper something softly in Grimlock's ear. Hours later, to the disappointment of the fans in attendance and the viewers watching at home, Grimlock and Siddhartha would emerge from the ring arm in arm. When asked for comment afterwards the Dinobot would say, "Grimlock found suffering permanent. Grimlock no longer need carry around so much pain."

These are great. I love the fact that I can’t possibly predict the next match-up to be posted and that I can’t possibly predict what writers will end up concocting.
