   About Vertical Montanas
Vertical Montanas are a ten-piece band, predominantly based in Oxford and comprised of all ten members of Youthmovies and Jonquil.

Our debut 7" single 'Thick Mugs / 'Of Scramblers...' was released on Motive Sounds Recordings on February 4th 2008.

No live shows are currently planned but we should be recording some new songs and choice covers over Christmas for an EP in 2009.

As we are sticklers for detail, the new Motive Sounds web site site does not yet meet with our approval, but since Vertical Montanas is out on Monday, we thought it would be a good idea to put the shop up temporarily until everything is ready. It'll be worth the wait...We're still ironing out the creases with the whole PayPal side of things so please e-mail info@motivesounds.com should you have any problems

You can vist the Motive Sounds shop and get yourself a nice crisp copy of the 7" by clicking the link below:

Vertical Montanas - Thick Mugs/Of Scramblers...

Recorded in July 2007 at Warehouse Studios, Oxford, under siege from flood water, this highly limited 7" by vertical montanas (all members of Youthmovies and Jonquil) will be the property of the first 500 lucky people to cross our palms with silver. The two tracks contained within are wonderful slices of leftfield pop-folk mixed by Hugo Manuel of Jonquil.

B/A. Of Scramblers; Rotting Birds and Gullies...the Trawlers, Crabs the Caterpillar Tracks

Very pretty. Thick mugs sounds great. A lot fuller than on the Jonquil tour record. As you would expect I suppose ;-P
