Vertical Worship is both old and new.
It is old in that it was the original form of worship in the Tabernacle of David, where the priests, in the inner court, ministered to the Lord and to Him alone.
It is new in that it is not the typical form of worship found in most assemblies today which is the ministry of the outer court, one to another.
The Vertical Worship Band did not come together for the purpose of forming a band. They were people who came into relationship with each other while ministering to the body of Christ, who over time realized that their greatest desire was not to do ministry, but to simply sit at the feet of Jesus and minister to Him through music. Out of this relationship and this common thread came a uniquely inspired sound and musical flow all its own. Though the band is composed of accomplished musicians, the focus of the band is not about impressing men (the horizontal), but about reaching upward to capture and captivate the heart of the Father (the vertical) - hence the name: Vertical Worship.
You might be a bit surprised walking into a Vertical Worship event. It will likely not have the same "look" as other worship events: it is not a band entertaining an audience, but a room full of people (with some on stage and some off stage) pouring out their hearts for an audience of One. Around the room you will likely see some sitting quietly chairs, others lying prostrate on the floor, and still others dancing as David danced before the Lord. The purpose is to "enter in" to His Presence and there is no right or wrong way to do it.
The music at a Vertical Worship event will often include several familiar worship songs. However, they are rarely played as a set list. Instead, they are the frame of a loom onto which is woven a unique pattern of the shades and textures and flow of the Holy Spirit. In between chorus' where the voices of the room join together, there will be interludes where the music appears to take on a life of its own. Suddenly a spontaneous phrase becomes a new chorus birthed new and fresh in, and for, that moment.
If you have not yet experienced Vertical Worship, you should come and see what it is all about, but don't come to see the band, come to see (and seek) the face of your Abba God.
Thx for the add
