    VERTIGO Q. is a young and energetic band inspired by the music of Alexander Scriabin, Claude Debussy, Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus, Miles Davis, Ornette Coleman, ECM, as well as Bjork, Bill Frisell, John Zorn and Radiohead. VERTIGO Q. started in late 2002 as a project of musicians with an idea to play their own music their own way. The result is an atmospheric mix of free jazz, drum&bass and ECM - type modern jazz, with respect to the vast history of music. .. .. MARCEL BARTA .. - alto&soprano sax, bassclarinet..Born 1974. Graduated from Pilsen Musical Conservatory, specialisation clarinet & saxophones. By the age of 17 he played in the band Jazzgang. Collaborates with singer Zuzana Dumkova. Accompanied well-known jazz musicians such as James Moody (USA), Tony Lakatos (Hungary), Andrea Keller (Australia). Forming member of the band Vibe Fantasy (with vibe player Radek Krampl).In 1997 aquired a stipendium to Berklee College of Music, Boston. From then on, member of Gustav Brom Big Band. In years 1998 and 1999 awarded “Best Alto Sax Player Of The Year” by the Czech Jazz Society. Member of Kontraband Milana Svobody since 1995 with whom he played at many festival over Europe. Scenic music for theatre-performance Nude Ants, member of experimental folk band VRRM. In 1998 formed his own funk band Muff and in 2001 a modern jazz quintet Vertigo. .. .. VOJTECH PROCHAZKA .. - piano..Born 1981. Took up classical piano at the age of 5. Studies composition and piano at the Jaroslav Jezek Conservatory. In 1997-8 during his stay in Houston, TX, member of the Lamar HS Orchestra. Studies with prominent players: Stanislav Macha, Karel Ruzicka, David Doruzka. Toured Scotland with a Czech-French-Scottish quartet of drummer Bruno Duval and alto player Martain Fell. Appeared at the Garana Jazz festival in Romania with Otto Hejnic Quartet. Collaborates with bands: Ondrej Stveracek Q., Saxtime, Miriam Bayle, David Doruzka. As a member of Daniel Soltis Trio awarded “Best Jazz Group 2003” by the Czech Jazz Society. .. .. OSKAR TOROK .. - trumpet..Born 1979. After studies at the Classical Conservatory of Presov and Bratislava, Slovakia moved to Prague where he now studies at the Jaroslav Jezek Musical Conservatory. He has been engaged in many different projects ranging from dance music to bebop: NUO, MUFF, DJ Blue, Miriam Bayle, Ondrej Stveracek, Zuzana Dumkova Band, Pavel Fajt, Musica Vizita, Karel Ruzicka etc. Apart from playing the trumpet, Oskar is a fine piano player and composer. .. .. RASTISLAV UHRIK .. - acoustic bass..Born 1980. Young and very talented, student of the renowned Czech bass player Jaromir Honzak. Collaborated with prominent figures on Czech jazz scene: David Doruzka, Lenka Dusilova, Stanislav Macha, Miriam Bayle, Rene Trossman. As a member of the “Daniel Soltis Trio” awarded “Best Jazz Group 2003” in Czech Republic. Toured Scandinavia and appeared at the Garana Jazz Festival in Romania with “Otto Hejnic Quartet”. As a member of “Ondrej Stveracek Quartet” awarded 6th place at the Jazz Hoeileaart Contest in Belgium 2003. .. .. DANIEL SOLTIS .. - drums Born 1982. After graduating from Kosice Musical Conservatory, specialisation percussive instruments, moves to Prague to study at the Jaroslav Jezek Musical School. His explosive and flexible style makes him a most sought after drummer. Member of many jazz and fusion bands: Lenka Dusilova, Tchokola, Ondrej Stveracek Quartet, Lukas Martinek Group, Rene Trossman Blues Band, Roman Pokorny and The Blue Box Heroes etc. Toured Germany with Roman Pokorny in 2002, in Vietnam with Felix Slovacek in 2003. Awarded 6th place at the Jazz Hoelieaart Contest in Belgium 2003 as a member of Ondrej Stveracek Quartet and as a leader of his own “Daniel Soltis Trio” won the 1st place - “Best Jazz Group 2003” at the Czech Junior Jazz Festival.
