Very really so is a creative collective. We love to make art in any form.
Evan has been writing the songs for this project for about 4 years. Song frameworks were written on a yearlong trip through iceland and asia. Upon returning to Canada, Evan met up with Paul, a jam buddy since 2003. They played shows last summer as a duo, mostly in small cafes.
Wanting to fill out the sound, Evan and Paul scouted for players who were on a similar wavelength. Mike and Andrew joined up in March 2009.
The name comes from grade 12 english class -- a teacher instructed students never to use the words 'very', 'really' and 'so' when writing. Evan thought it was an odd ultimatum since these words are commonly used in speech.
Very, really and so are amplifiers. But in attempting to amplify a feeling...they expose the weakness - no, the humanity - of the speaker. Strong parallels to music: exaggerating emotion while becoming vulnerable to scrutiny.
The aim of the group is to produce sound that cannot be accounted for by individual talent.
To gain inspiration from eachother, and to inspire audiences.
Inspiration to be creative -- to channel emotion positively.

Hope the show on the 30th was a good one. Sorry we couldn't make it, we did a spontaneous trip to the mountains, and the day was just too perfect to leave early.

We wanted to stop in and say hi. We have a few updates for you. We have been working on our new album. Our first single off of it is on our myspace page.
