Vesuvian Live at The Cavern Club Liverpool June 09

Rock band Vesuvian ready for explosion
ABERDEEN rockers vesuvian headline The Tunnels on Sunday as part of a day set aside for Freshers' week. Festivities begin as early as
pm with rock'n'rollers Vesuvian the main draw. Already this year they have headlined the prestegious Cavern Club in Liverpool to great acclaim. The Cavern is the club the Beatles made their breakthrough in the sixties. Vesuvian's gig was filmed live and the show is already a big hit on the internet. Their performance impressed bosses so much they have been invited back to headline the club on Hogmany this year. Full of attitude and vigour on stage, their thunderous guitar assault has already drawn comparisons with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Mix in the attitude of Oasis, and the eclectic range of the Brian Jonestown Massacre and you will come close. Already a huge live favourite in the Granite City. Fans can expect tunes like Pull the Trigger and Devil in Love. Those who have not already seen them live can expect to be converted. One of the most exciting bands to emerge from Aberdeen in years. Vesuvian are set to go big.

GIG REVIEW
Aberdeen Tunnels, 28th March 2008. Supporting The Whip.
Its no understatement to say that I had been looking forward to this gig all week. What I didn't expect was that I'd also have the pleasure of being introduced to Vesuvian for the first time. I don't think it would be unkind to say that they sound like Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Their set up of twin guitars, bass and drums belies the monsterous noise they manage to create. It's not until thier third track however that they really hit their stride - if Alan McGee heard them he would explode and possibly hail them as the next big thing. It's that kind of band, and a rare breed indeed - an Aberdonian band worth watching out for in the future.
MONOTONIX Saturday 28th November Nice n Sleazys, Glasgow
The release of their new album tops off a whirlwind year of touring, the infamy surrounding their charged live perfomances steadily mounting. Rightly so, check out this youtube link- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmEHu-QAgNE&feature=related - and marvel at one of the typically unpredictable gigs of the band that Spin have declared the "most exciting live band in rock'n'roll."

"Fusing the driving stomps of classic sixties soul with the muddy yet crunchy guitars and puerile words of garage rock, King Khan & The Shrines are one of those uncommon groups who seem to live in the past and still make an attention-grabbing noise. The Supreme Genius is a retrospective of their work this century from initial 45s through to the cleaner more sophisticated efforts of their last proper album, What Is?!. Soul is certainly a key ingredient in the Shrine's psychedelic stew, though purists would balk at describing the end product as one of their own ('filthy racket' being the likely response). Fans of the 'rock 'n' soul' pedigree stretching from the Kingsmen to The Make Up and The Black Lips, however, should be more accepting, as will anyone who likes their music loud and raucous" BBC Music

Heh. Well I left the land of snow and have been wandering around Oregon, California and Nevada, so I will be sure to rally support down here (better for you, believe me) But it would be even BETTER if you came over the pond and did a show HERE. We could have a good time ;)
