My name is Tim Redfern and I am sixteen years old and currently living in Melbourne, Australia. My main passions are music, martial arts, nature and philosophy, but I have quite a few interests.
I play guitar (electric, acoustic and bass) and I compose my own music; and, from time to time, even record some of it. What I listen to would make most people cringe, but to each their own. I don't give a shit because all they listen to is radio-friendly, mediocre, mid-tempo, shallow, uninteresting, uninspiring and unsatisfying crap. My tastes revolve mainly around heavy metal (all kinds, but predominantly melodic death metal and black metal), post rock, progressive rock, folk, neo-folk, classical and ambient electronica. Other stuff finds its way in there from time to time, of course, but those genres sum up my CD collection well enough. I write on occasion but much more frequently, I read; history, philosophy, religions, historical fiction and fantasy, mainly.
Aside from all my other interests, my only 'sport' is Wing Chun Kung Fu, a Chinese martial art. I've been doing it for years and I'm not bad at it. I train several hours a week… usually about four or so. I’m also into running, working out etc, but Kung Fu is my focus.
One of the things that fascinates me greatly is the natural world, as can be seen from the subjects of a lot of my photography and music. I like forests a great deal in particular… Seriously, I can never get enough of them. Very majestic and awe-inspiring. North American/European style forests in particular. Also; winter is my favourite season by far. What most people describe as 'wretched, miserable weather' is what I find the most peaceful. A damn shame that we don't get any snow in Melbourne – the stuff's beautiful.
My philosophical ideas are inspired greatly by Nietzsche, Thoreau, Vikernes and the ideas and ways of my Germanic ancestors, among many others. I borrow aspects of different religions and philosophies to create my own moral code. As far as religion goes, I struggle to label my beliefs, and can’t be bothered listing them… ask me if you need to know.
I do not need my life, my values, my aims or my passions to be decided by some Judeo-Roman book written two thousand years ago; nor do I need any form of divinity in my life to tell me what to do, least of all, to grovel before, serve, fellate, worship and grow stagnant in front of, as do so many of the worlds active theists. It is nothing short of tragic that so many human potentials are lost due to religion. Rather than living life to its fullest and making count this single opportunity we have on earth, so many people chose to allow their lives to grow stagnant and amount to nothing in the names of their false gods. Make the most of this chance. Don't waste it by praying to thin air for eternal life which we could only possibly want out of fear of death (or of hell, a place as fictitious as the deities who would supposedly save us from it).
I have no interest in the boring horseshit which captivates most of the flock. Partying, drinking, drugs, fashion, cell phones; whatever. I've got better things to do with my time and money. I'm not a social person; I hate crowds and avoid them when possible, and I resent making small talk. And I know I sound very negative, but I’m usually pretty friendly :p

Who I'd like to meet:
Interesting people, or people who share my interests and ideas. Please only add me if we know eachother somehow, or if we have something in common. If you just want me as another number on your 'friends list', then kindly fuck off. I don't mind band/music page requests but please send me a message first.
Oh, by the way, I'm not going to 'rank' my friends in a 'top friends' list. For that reason my top friends list includes only band and organisation pages.
That's gay, my school was about to set a strict dressing code this year, but I'm glad they didn't. I have no problems with my hair(except some extra attention and weird looks) or my metal t-shirts.
Yeah, I know. :) It actually leaked on April 25th. I've been listening to it the whole week. Awesome album, definitely on the par with previous Opeth albums. Akerfeldt can't do anything wrong.
Considering you're completely new to the genre, I could recommend you a ton of worthwhile Asian horror movies. Takashi Shimizu's masterpieces got me into Asian horror, so first of all, I strongly recommend you to check out some of his movies: Ju-On: The Curse (2000) Ju-On: The Curse 2 (2000) Ju-On: The Grudge (2003) Ju-On: The Grudge 2 (2003) Marebito (2004) Rinne (2005)
Ju-On movies made me a fan of Asian horror. Very eerie, raw and atmospheric stuff. Just avoid the American remakes at any cost. Marebito is also an exceptionally good example of horror(filmed in only 8 days, by the way), and it's definitely the most disturbing Shimizu's work to date. Rinne, while it's undoubtedly a well-made movie with an emphasis on storyline like no other Shimizu's offering, seemed a bit clichéd for me but it should be effective enough for a newcomer like you. :) This should keep you busy for a while, I think.
Of course. It's one of the better known Japanese horror films after all. :) Great movie with a unique idea, but not exactly one of my favorites. The sequel was kind of disappointing, by the way.
that's a sample i read out of this book called Gargantua and Pantagruel. It's about the month of october. It's intentionally supposed to be buried within the mix, only to serve as an "instrument" of words being sampled.
http://www. last. fm/music/Kristallnacht "i hope that nazism is eradicated. this is my mission in life. trust me in 30 years nazis will all be in hiding, hunted mercilessly like dogs. you dont respond to intellectual criticism...you call those who offer it 'fags' or whatever. so my message is different. debating with you has not worked. it is time for fear and retribution"
