    IF YOU CARE
In fact, if one person is unkind to an animal it is considered to be cruelty, but where a lot of people are unkind to animals, especially in the name of commerce, the cruelty is condoned and, once large sums of money are at stake, will be defended to the last by otherwise intelligent people.

If beef is your idea of “real food for real people,” you’d better live real close to a real good hospital.

    Flesh eating is unprovoked murder.
    —Ben Franklin
One farmer says to me, "You cannot live on vegetable food solely, for it furnishes nothing to make the bones with;" and so he religiously devotes a part of his day to supplying himself with the raw material of bones; walking all the while he talks behind his oxen, which, with vegetable-made bones, jerk him and his lumbering plow along in spite of every obstacle.

You have just dined, and however scrupulously the slaughterhouse is concealed in the graceful distance of miles, there is complicity.

About me:

RIP Pumpkin.

10.19.09

We fostered her since the 8th. She had a pretty serious upper respiratory infection that, no matter what we did, seemed to get worse. Medications, probiotics, and special food fed through a baby syringe and yet no improvement. This morning at 630a she was laying in front of the radiator with trouble breathing. She was put down this morning around 800a. She will hold a special place in Alisha and myself's hearts.

I am vegan, a piercer, a boardshop manager, a fixed gear hipster, a non believer, a cat lover, pierced, tattooed, cut, scarred, a coffee addict, a IPA lover, am not in your scene, am sick of writing this.

I wake up early and fall asleep kinda early, rarely answer my phone, have a monotone voice, live in an apartment with my girlfriend shared with my 2 cats and a flying squirrel, have never been on a plane and can't imagine it any other way, get lost in my own head often, have a retarded amount of music from all sorts of genres, have a hard time summing myself up.

Best things people have said to me...
"You're too skinny." (my mom <3 amongst others)
"You're wierd, I don't get you." (an ex)
"Eric's vegan, so he eats nothing...prolly just candlesticks." (ex friend)
"You're part of that Volkswagen cult too, aren't you?" (some girl after I mentioned that her dub was nice)
"What's with the tight pants? Are you gay?" (my uncle, cousin, extended family)
"No, you're too gay for me." (a gay man in regards to if he would pick me up at a bar...haha I love Randall)
"Fuck dude, that's a lil too far for me..." (a fellow modded ex-friend)
"I'd call your fashion style ..homeless casual..." (Mindi, used to be my manager)
"You are always on opposite sides of the spectrum. No medium." (an "ex" or at least a girl that had something for me and vice versa)
"How big are your spacers" (regarding my plugs)"
"I understand liking art, but with the money you spent on tattoos you could have had it on your wall instead of on your skin" (my dad <3)
"As long as you don't go too far. Though I know that you will..." (my dad <3)
"You look hungry."
"I think you are crazy."
"Eric, you're the balls."
"Kevin, you're such a disease!" (Randall)
"You look like death. Go home." (an employer)
"I saw someone who looked like you on National Geographic." (a skateshop customer)
"Did that hurt?" (random ignorance on the street)
"You're ruining your body". (a tattoo artist regarding piercings, ha)
"If I knew you were going to flake out, I wouldn't have wasted my time". (a photographer from NYC in Buffalo for a few days and trying to get a hold of me)

Who I'd like to meet:

anyone who is willing to do something for their beliefs
anyone who went vegan and STAYED vegan
anyone who knows him/herself
anyone who is open minded
as far as a girl goes, I am set
....

I get around...

    I WANT THAT
  • Dec 13 2009 1:45 AM

Hahaha, that'd be a shitty drive, even for insanely good vegan cuisine.
Holland is like 15 miles south of East Aurora, if that helps.
About 30 miles south of Buffalo.

This weekend isn't looking too good though; I had a wrestling tournament and ACT testing today which physically and mentally drained me.
Tomorrow I plan on intense recovery.

Next weekend looks wide open though, barring any unforeseen bombardment of snow.

alright man. be safe. what time do you think that would be?
  • Dec 8 2009 1:58 AM

Yeah well living in Holland affords me no friends in a reasonable proximity either.
    Let's call Tony's place a middle ground?
  • Dec 8 2009 12:30 AM

    Definitely potluck!
My girlfriend and I do quite a bit of vegan cookery too.
Tony and a bunch of friends and I used to have vegan dinner parties during the summer..
But now people are back to school, back to work....
It kind of fell by the wayside (not wheyside)

You should throw me a message the next time you decide to concoct a vegan feast.

  • Oct 29 2009 1:55 PM

yeah man...at least we did something. and i gave earthlings to richie and he's starting a more vegetarian friendly lifestyle. he's not eating meat...still fish, but at least it's a start. i'm workin on him!
  • Oct 28 2009 6:47 PM

apparently the spca went to the house and told them that they are allowed to eat them...but only if they are killed in a humane manner.

randall told me that they didn't eat them.

    so i guess it's a small victory.

i'm still fuming about it though

give me a call and we'll set something up.
  • Sep 2 2009 5:45 PM

you basically said everything i was thinking.
i always want to have dvds and pamphlets on hand to distribute as needed.
we definately need to get educated on where we can transport animals too if and when we do decide to free them.
i'm tired of talking about it.
    it's time to do something.
  • Sep 1 2009 11:49 PM

    i know.

    that's such a bullshit excuse.

im seriously ready to start doing more. if you're into starting something up, we can totally pioneer a vegan group in buffalo.
  • Sep 1 2009 10:23 PM

i know it's difficult to watch those videos, but i agree, it is necessary from time to time to remind us why we do what we do.

you know what gets me about earthlings? it's the simple fact that it's not even extreme incidents that are documented, it's INDUSTRY STANDARDS. this shit is completely tolerated by the fda and any other food agency. how any government allows such attrocities to occur is beyond me. i guess pretending to care about human health and well being is more important than actually caring about the well being of animals.

i want to burn a million copies of that dvd and start giving them out to people, making them watch it, and then seeing their reaction. if someone is not affected by it, then i'll skin them alive just like they did to that poor fox in the clothing video.
  • Sep 1 2009 5:30 PM

Pretty close to it. Dear god.
  • Sep 1 2009 4:36 PM

Oh god. That video. =/ I feel like vomiting.
