TECH ISSUE EXTRA - STAN WANNET MAAKT TERMINATOR-HAZEN
Stan Wannet is een Nederlandse kunstenaar die zombierobothazen maakt. Hij vult de dode beesten op met een gemotoriseerd lichaam, maar, voor jullie Gaia bellen, moeten je weten dat Stan zijn terminatorhazen ook poëtische verhalen laat schrijven en ingewikkelde wiskundige problemen laat oplossen. Blijkbaar laat hij de haasjes schrijven om ze terug controle te geven over hun bestaan, al klinkt het soort nachtmerries die ik had toen ik een kleuter was. We spraken met Stan op de Verbeke Foundation, waar hij werkt aan een nieuwe installatie waarin robothamsters rondlopen in aparte kooien waardoor ze elektriciteit opwekken. Prachtig.
Dat de cover van ons Technology Issue een 'specialleke' is, had je zelf wel al gemerkt. Onze modellen hebben dan ook zwaar geleden tijdens deze shoot. In plaats van tegen een muur of een boom te leunen moesten ze hun smoeltjes, borsten of andere lichaamsdelen plat persen op het glas van een kopieerapparaat. Het resultaat is dat de mannelijke helft van de modellen verblind is door de xeroxstraling en de vrouwelijke helft ons een schadeclaim van ettelijke miljoenen heeft aangesmeerd voor 'het opzettelijk plat persen van een reeds welgevormde poep of boezem'. But not really. Geniet eindelijk ten volle van de foto's die op de Amerikaanse viceland.com al vijf weken de eerste plaats in de viewerslijsten bezet houden.
