Ray's Interests

| General | I am working on my family history. I am also interested in the local history of the Hudson Valley, especially Columbia County.
Otherwise my interests are varied depending on moods, the weather, the alignment of the stars or whatever. So somewhat eclectic. They have ranged from the history of the Vikings to King Arthur to cooking, writing and photography. | | Music | Ranges from Classical to the Stones to 70's pop and rock. Or pretty much whatever is on the radio at the time. Bands include Jethro Tull, Heart, Jefferson Airplane, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd and the Eagles. | | Movies | The Sound of Music, Oklahoma, Casablanca, The African Queen, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, The Medicine Man, Dirty Harry, Dirty Dancing | | Television | I don't watch much television. I cannot get into these 'reality' shows... the situations are too fake or the point seems to be destructive criticism.
Shows that I have enjoyed are M*A*S*H, the early Saturday Night Live with John Belushi, Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray, Gilda Radner and the rest of that crew, Carol Burnett.
I do not watch much TV now because my work schedule is in the evening. When I do watch it tends to be more for the Science Channel and Discovery Times. | | Books | Stranger in a Strange Land, Lord of the Rings, The Red Tent; Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke and Ray Bradbury | | Heroes | Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jonas Salk, Harriet Tubman, Mother Theresa. People who see injustice and despair and act to correct them peacefully with dignity. |

About me:
I was born in Italy while my father was stationed there. I grew up in Hudson, NY and graduated from Eisenhower College in Seneca Falls, NY with a BA in Biology. I joined the army and was stationed in Italy and Saudi Arabia with side trips to the Philippines, Panama and Belize. After leaving the army I went to work for Verizon Business in Cary, NC and live in Fayetteville.
I am divorced with no children.
