  • Bio

Viceroy was formed in early 2004 by guitarist Nick Miller and singer/guitarist Derek Ault in the wake of Miller and Ault's departure from defunct underground club rockers Sweet Machine. The band was rounded out with the addition of drummer Joey Busch (The Waco Bros) and bassist Scotty J (The Mean Reds). Their sound is midwest rock n roll served straight up like fine bourbon. Guitarist Nick Miller described it this way. I guess you could think of us as a garage band of sorts except we are more old school hard rock than punk. The band has played some of Chicagos finest rock clubs including: Double Door, Elbo Room, Liars Club, Park West, Quenchers, Martyrs, and the Cobra Lounge. They have shared the bill with bands like: Local H, The Detroit Cobras, The Ex-Senators, The Paybacks, The Webb Bros, Beer Nuts, The Ladies & Gentlemen and Billion Yen.. Viceroy has received raves from rock critic Jim Derogatis of the Chicago Sun-Times and airplay on WXRT-FM (Chicago), Q101 (Chicago), Q104 (New York), WLUM (Milwaukee). John Sullivan, drummer and co-founder of Chicago rock scene favorites, Loudmouth, joined Viceroy in December 2010. In September of 2011, Matt Taormina became Viceroy's new drummer. Matt has graced some of Chicago's most prestigious stages in the past with such bands as Thirty Days and High Grass Dogs he is a seasoned veteran of the music scene. Bringing sound dynamic beats with a deep pocket and great feel the rhythm section is finally complete and the band is set to deliver powerful Rock tunes that'll leave you reminded of what you love most about music; killer tones, creative riffs and a back beat that keeps your toes tappin. Viceroy is now rockin harder than ever!

Over the last few years the band has played some of Chicagos finest rock establishments including: Double Door, Elbo Room, Liars Club, Park West, Quenchers, Martyrs and the Cobra Lounge. They have shared the bill with bands like: Local H, The Detroit Cobras, The Paybacks, The Webb Bros, The Beer Nuts, The Ladies & Gentlemen and Billion Yen. Viceroy has already received raves from rock critic Jim Derogatis of the Chicago Sun-Times and airplay on WXRT-FM (Chicago), Q101 (Chicago), Q104 (New York), WLUM (Milwaukee). Drummer John Sullivan (Loud Mouth) joined the band for a short time and eventually hard hittin’ Rock n Roll drummer Matt Taormina (Thirty Days, High Grass Dogs) joined Viceroy.
