Letterbox was Vic's Sydney band in 2003- 2005. Since then she has pursued a solo career as a singer songwriter playing a 12 string Martin guitar and more recently classical guitar and banjo. Vic is currently working on her first album recorded live in 2008 - it's a double album of 24 songs where she's accompanied by her friends and fellow songwriters performing covers of her songs and joining in as a live audience in Brian Campeau's living room. Stay tuned for that.
'I'm from rural Qld - but don't tell anyone. I've lived most of my adult life in NSW so I feel like I've almost wrung the pineapples out of my hair now. I've been a professional environmental activist (yes, I've stood in front of bulldozers, and on one occasion, an army tank and lines of armed police officers). I've been a National Park's guide and educator and have worked with Aboriginal groups, I've had my own Theatre Company, and countless rock/folk/idiotic bands. I've been a high school teacher, a marketing manager, a project manager, IT specialist....and now.... I'm trying to make a go of writing music and am currently writing a musical with a couple of talented friends - coz you can never get rid of the bug to do theatre when you've been bitten by it."
Vic moved to Sydney in 2001 and has played many gigs round Sydney including: The Vanguard, The Harp Hotel, Eastside Music Cafe and the folk-haven Glebe Excelsior among many other hotels, bars and cafe venues around town too numerous to mention.
After a successful tour to Melbourne in 2008, she decided to move there and can be found singing at various venues around Melbourne selling her "song-books" with CD.
Her latest project is a 6 song EP of Science Songs a taste of which can be found on the PYJAMAS site.
Vic sometimes works with songwriter David Griggs... and wishes he would just move to Melbourne, already.
Thanks for the Anti-folk night. I had a great time listening to the history of the movement from all around the world. I still have the song '24 hours in Melbourne' in my head - great filmclip idea for it too
Will catch you through the week at open mic somewhere
boo!!! hi.. in relation to your question - i think maybe it's better to reschedule 'sounding board' otherwise it might end up all rushed and flustery - especially for you cos of the gig n all. What do you think?? xxx

VIC FARRELL ~ from her EP I know, there's LOTS of solo females singing indie with their guitars...... so you need something ton stand out, Emily Ulman has, IMHO some of the best lyrics in OZ ! Vic Farrell has a voice that shows NO strain. She knows how to open her throat and just let the sound pass through an open channel. When you add Brian Campeau's subtle and varied instrumentation, the musicality delights your ears.
oh melbourne... i always find a ride late at night on a tram staring out the window makes me feel better.. you could always watch that terrible movie we started to watch when you were at my house :)
HI MISS!!!!!! i've been thinking about how i would address you in a myspace comment, and i couldnt think of anything, except, miss.. and anything else would just feel weird... max and i are going to stalk you soon, when your playing in sydney. oh and oh and oh and, did i tell you im moving to melbourne at the end of the year ?? :D
Hi Vic, just wanted to pop in to tell u again how amazing your songs r. that one where u r driving around with your folks and your Dad tells u not to say that you wish were like the local indigenous kids just blew me away. I laughed then I think I actually cried in the same song and I still cant believe it. x
thanks Vic for the kind words and for wanting me to be a part of the whole event, you and everyone sounded great...Feel Anymore is such a gorgeous song from such a gorgeous songwriter/performer! :-) Michael
