The original version of the Vicious Mistress was formed to play a single show. After the break up of the The Heflins (Sam Hook, Richard Edison, Reuben Gearhart) Sam and Reuben booked a show at The Rock Angel to play with Michael Graves... without actually having a band to play. However, this charismatic pair had it all in hand, and soon the foundation was set.
After two months Josh Hayden, Justin Berkley, and Tommy Bailey joined the band. The band was dubbed "The Gooch" by Punk Rock Jeff, and they began to play shows. Soon, Tommy left the band, and the remaining members changed the name of the band to Vicious Mistress.
Vicious Mistress began to play shows, and soon the "Vicious Life Style" was formed. However shortly after, the band broke up leaving Sam and Rueben in the market for a band... again.
After a very short time David Cruse and Will Cook joined the band. David had been playing with Daniel Meehan in a band called The Carpet Knights. With the addition of Dave and Will Vicious Mistress was formed again and the authentic Vicious Sound was born. The group of guys began testing the waters of the Paducah Local Scene.
In 2007 Zach Sahs (Confluence, Louder Than 11) joined the band originally as a bass guitarist after Will Cook moved to Florida, but Will soon returned and Zach switched to guitar as a second guitarist. At The beginning of 2009 1/2 through album production David Cruse parted ways with the band in persuit of his own project, The Al Bundys. Will Cook shortely followed, leaving all the guitar work to Zach to finish.
Currently, Vicious Mistress is seeking a new bass player. If you would like to try out, please contact Zach Sahs at (270) 366-6621 for more details.
