Artist of the Week
ANN COURTNEY AND THE LATE BLOOMERS
Ann Courtney & the Late Bloomers began one spring day in 2003, with college graduation looming. A student of the theater at Fordham University, Ann Courtney confronted the uncertainty of a life on the stage by rejecting the premise. Instead she cast herself as the front-woman of her very own rock band, and put her firends Benn Bayleen on Bass, Lizzie Barena on Keyboard and vocals, David Giambusso on guitar, and Michael Lupo on Drums to create her very own dream band, who all came about from different points of Ann Coutney's life in New York. Ann Courtney & the Late Bloomers have two prior independent releases, To Your Health! (2004) and the pollyanna EP (2006), and have completed their first full-length album to be released on the Cougar label this April. Recorded at The Fort with engineer Jim Bentley, Crocodile is a female melodrama of yearning, shame, masking, and defiance. Aching and ecstatic in equal turn, the record maps new terrain in the group’s musical discovery. For more info, check out their myspace and their website!
The Artist of the Week is featured on the New Music Show Fridays from 4-6pm EST.
