    Info on the novels:

A DARKNESS INBRED, by Victor Heck.
    Cover Art/Design: Zack Venable

Victor Heck's novel A Darkness Inbred appeared in 2001, entering an otherwise quiet horror scene like a hurricane. Praised heavily by readers and critics alike as an incredibly strong debut appearance, it was reviewed everywhere from Dark Realms to Fangoria with words such as 'brilliant', 'sinister', 'twisted', and 'ghoulish'. A bizarre 'what-if' story where one of H.P. Lovecraft's immortal creations is updated to present day and finds itself worshipped as Christ's second-coming by a deformed family of ignorant hill people.

If God came from the grave. . . In 1993, the year of the Great Missouri Flood, a small town called Hardin was completely submerged. Buildings, cars, people. . .entire lives and family histories erased in a matter of days. However, it wasn't just the living that suffered, but also the dead, as the cemetery's occupants were washed free from their graves as well. . .along with something else, long forgotten, from an older cemetery underneath the newer one.

BOOK OF LEGION, by Victor Heck.
    Cover Art/Design: Ron Leming

Legion, a Demon stripped of his identity millenia ago and forced to walk the Earth for all eternity without a name and without even his own body, has just been reminded who he really is.

As Lucifer once began a war with Heaven, so now does Legion...with Hell. Legion wishes to turn Earth into another Kingdom of Darkness where he reigns supreme. Now able to wield his once 'punishment' turned 'ability' of leaping into mortal bodies, he escapes from Eternal Damnation inside the body of an emotionally-unstable mental patient. By corrupting a well-known television Evangelist, and revealing himself to thousands in the Bible Belt of Southern Missouri as Christ's Second Coming to gain a foothold, Legion surrounds himself with an army of undead whose souls feed him. Legion leads the hordes north on a pilgrimage to the nation's capital where he will gain world-wide notoriety, and thereby damn the world to a new Hell under his rule.

About me:

My real name is David Nordhaus, but that's not very interesting. I write horror novels, short stories and screen plays, do behind the scenes photography and documentary video work for various film companies, and am in the infancy stage of starting my own independent film company. I was born in St. Louis in 1967. As an author using the pseudonym Victor Heck, I am the author of the novels A DARKNESS INBRED and BOOK OF LEGION, have appeared in horror anthologies such as SEX CRIMES, and was editor for the critically-acclaimed ASYLUM ANTHOLOGY SERIES. I have been nominated for the British Fantasy Award (Best Anthology '99 - The Asylum Vol 1), have been on the preliminary ballot for the Bram Stoker Award multiple times (Best Anthology '99 - The Asylum Vol 1; Best First Novel '2000 - A Darkness Inbred; Best Anthology '02 - The Asylum Vol 2); and THE ASYLUM was mentioned in The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror - Vol(s) 13 and 16, and the Mammoth Book of New Horror - Vol(s) 13 and 15.

I have worked for several companies as a Systems Engineer including the U.S. Dept(s) of Treasury, Defense and Energy. In the distant past I was the top-grossing salesman for Sprint Corp in the United States in 1989, and I have been the Exclusive Properties Rep for a hotel company's five-star properties including The Watergate in D.C.. In addition to being a novelist, editor, and making films, I am also a graphic designer, illustrator, have written PC game reviews, and am a professional smart ass.

..NEWS BULLETIN..

I played a bit part as The Priest on the film WATCH OUT, directed by Steve Balderson, and was also a faceless extra in another scene. In addition I was a production assistant for the film, and a video documentarian for Steve Balderson's simultaneously-filmed documentary project. Information on the film is in my blog, all over YouTube, and also available at www.WatchOutFilm.com

I was on the Lou Gentile Show, live from Philadelphia PA, on September 25th, 2006 at 8PM EST, talking with Lou about my book A Darkness Inbred. You can still listen to the archived show that was simulcast on the web, by visiting Lou at www.lougentile.com, navigate about half way down the page and look for my real name (David Nordhaus) under the free audio archives section.

"Crazy people tend to choose creative jobs, and the most consistently off kilter are poets. To be more precise: nearly 9 out of 10 poets surveyed have had diagnosable mental disorders. The crazy runners-up: fiction writers at 77%." Professor Arnold Ludwig, M.D., author Method and Madness in the Arts and Sciences

My Only 'Wee' Disclaimer: I do my best to reply to emails, although I may be slow on the response time. Unfortunately I don't get back to too many people with regards to the comments left here. I more or less view the comments section as a graffiti wall anyway, although I DO appreciate comments. Also, and its not because I'm being an ass, but there are only a couple kinds of comments I don't accept - those that are SO OVERLY HUGE that they actually reformat the table layout of my page, and those with actual pornographic stuff in em. As you were. MANAGEMENT

..Random Reviews Of Victor's Books - .. ..
-----------------------------------------------------------
Praise for BOOK OF LEGION
  • "Disturbing as Hell!" J.F. Gonzalez, author of Beloved and Survivor
  • "In Book of Legion, Victor Heck takes us down to Hell, then raises Hell up to earth. Apocalyptic and uncompromising, this is horror without boundaries or restraint." Garrett Peck, co-editor of Tooth and Claw
  • "Book of Legion is one of the best stories I've read this year. ...the most brutal thing I have read since J.F. Gonzalez's Survivor." Dennis Duncan - for Amazon.com..
-----------------------------------------------------------
Praise for BIRTHDAY BOX (in SEX CRIMES)
  • "'Birthday Box' by Victor Heck is a quick little ditty about a&thing&trapped in a box at the local watering hole, whose only source of nutrition is the life-giving discharge of the local patrons. It's very disgusting from start to finish, but when you discover the real identity of the 'thing' in question, you'll probably think twice about anonymous blowjobs for the rest of your life. If, that is, you ever think about it at all." Johnny Butane, excerpt from review of Sex Crimes for The Creature Corner
  • "Birthday Box was so disturbing I was honestly upset by it and just sat there pondering the horror of it. Thinking of it too much still makes me a little nauseous." Ron Cunningham, excerpt from review of Sex Crimes for HorrorWatch.com

Who I'd like to meet:

I love foreign horror and scifi. Russian, French, Japanese...its all very different than the crap being spoonfed to us by Hollywood. Here is a trailer for a current favorite of mine. The Russian action horror film DayWatch.
