My real name is Gwyn. Victoria Draken is a name I fashioned for myself on Second Life when I first discovered it through our Systems Librarian and I have used it since to wander through virtual realms.
I work as a Document Controller on a mine site, flying in and out on my 8/6 roster. I leave my house at 5:15am Monday morning, and land in Perth 8:20pm the following Monday night. Due to some factors my conmpany has lost a mass of money and therefore I have recently inherited the work loads of three other Document Controllers on top of running my own Library which, quite frankly, looks like someones messy bedroom. So I have a fair few projects going on to fix things.
Aside from all this I actually really like my job and the opportunities it is giving me. Not only is it great pay and great experience, but it accomplishing one of the two "down the road" goals I had set for myself on choosing a career and the roster is fantastic, allowing me a great deal of free time and study time. I don't think I could handle working a normal 9 to 5 in the city again, at least until I am graduated.
I have just completed my Diploma of Library/Information Services at TAFE (making me a qualified Library Technician) and have enrolled into a Bachelor of Information Technology/Bachelor of Science (Library Technology) at Uni, which will make me a qualified Librarian when I am done at the end of 2013 or something stupid, hehe.
Very recently (less than a week from writing this) I got married to Peter, who is a Digital Forensics lecturer at the University I am enrolled in, and will even be my lecturer for a couple of units. He is currently on a plane between Singapore and LAX to present two papers at a conference in Las Vegas. My next off swing we will be going on our honeymoon in New Zealand, which will be my first time outside of Australia.
As far as future goals go, all I can determine is that I want to make as much money as I possibly can.
