Sounds Like
NME: "A drunk Joanna Newsom lisping nursery rhymes over the sound of an evil merry-go-round"
The Line of Best Fit: “Its like listening to Bjork front a thrift-shop pop group, full of delicate bells and random percussion interspersed with periods of outrageous cries and noise.”
Cambridge Evening News: “Interspersed with slickly-produced samples and electronic trickery, their electro folk style was matched perfectly by the lead-singer’s forthright vocalisations – a combination not unlike some of the newer material from Sigur Rós.”
Colour Promotions: “Victoria and Jacob wowed us with their intelligent, affecting electro-pop last summer, but it was a real pleasure to see how much they’ve come on since then. Their songs still have pop sensibilities at their core; however, they felt more expansive and focused on texture and evocation, a perfect fusion of organic and man-made melodies. Their first full-length release will definitely be one worth waiting for.”
Victoria and Jacob are an electronic pop duo from London, UK. Their conception began whilst studying electronic music at University. Jacob conducts a D.J aesthetic with synthetic beats, glitches and synthesiser and Victoria lays down melancholic vocal lines that jump and drift around with delay and pitch shift effects.
Their first EP, ‘Super Computer’, was self-released in August 2008 and received airplay on Tom Robinson’s BBC 6music show. This was shortly followed by a UK tour at the beginning of 2009. They released their second EP ‘In The Rough’ in October 2009, and their debut single ‘With No Certainty’ is due for release on 7” vinyl in March 2010 by Voga Parochia.
They also play gigs sometimes and have played with bands such as Mystery Jets, Stornoway, Tim and Sams Tim and the Sam band, My Latest Novel, Gaggle, plus many more…
Awesome, we should do a CD swap, definitely want a copy. It went alright thanks, although there was one particularly awful car-crash moment, but the rest went well enough for me to completely block it out..!
Hey Jakey, yeah the festival was awesome, I was drunk for three days straight and saw some ace bands. Wildbirds and Peacedrums were my highlight for sure, they're new album's so very very good. Peter Broderick set was "spell-binding", you know when artists try and get the audience to sing and never ever works, well he did it and it turned into an amazing shared experience. So good times all round, how's recording/life going? Liam x
Hey, It was nice meeting you aaaaages ago... I loved your set! I like your picture with "Let The Right One In" faces too. Ha! It was ashame the Oxford promoter ran away after not inviting people... he probably should have done some sort of promoting. I hope you can come back to Oxford soon; although, I'll see if I can get down to London for your Barfly gig. Love Sam
Thanks for the heads up about the visuals. If I can't make it to the Lexington though I would definitly try to get to the Barfly at the end of October. David
Hey good to hear from you guys again I'm sure we played the Dublin Castle together at one point. You have some really nice stuff, thanks for the add! :)
