The more you learn, the more you realize how much you have left to learn. If I like you, I'm usually willing to give your interests a shot, too. Just to highlight a few interests, though....
I loved hiking in Duluth. I miss the parks there: Chester, Enger, Hartley, Bagley, Lester, Congdon, Park Point, Gooseberry, Tettegouche and so on. Check out my pictures for a shot of one of the best waterfalls on the North Shore... although it'd be better minus the ex. ;-) In the Twin Cities, I'm always up for a loop around Calhoun, although I demand a leisurely pace. None of that running stuff. If anyone knows of some fun hiking places around the Twin Cities, let me know!
I used to write in my spare time. I was an officer in my college Literary Guild. Yes, I said "guild." Now that I spend the better part of Monday through Friday writing about finances and economics and other such thrilling topics, I've stopped writing for pleasure. Hopefully I'll find my muse again soon.
While I can't say I'm a true connoisseur of local music, I do enjoy smaller venue shows. I've seen...
Atreyu, Bullet for my Valentine, Pennywise and Apocolyptica at the almost flooded Q101 Block Party
Mushroomhead with The Autumn Offering
more coming soon....
I also enjoy whistling. Sometimes I do it without realizing it. I can even whistle and hum at the same time, but I never do that subconsciously. Can you whistle and hum at the same time?? I think it sounds like a spaceship. :-)
I used to say that I had eclectic taste in music, but since eclecticism seems to be all the rage these days, I'll say that I listen mostly to alternative rock, hard rock and metal; but I toss in a little pop, rap, blues, whining women, Christian rock and whatever else strikes a particular chord with my tapping fingers.
I used to stream The Refuge every day at work, and it's still a great station, but I've recently become addicted to Pandora. Want to know what music I think is super cool? Check out my Pandora Favorites!
Movies
Movies that I could watch every day and still adore:
Office Space, Wallace & Gromit, American Beauty, Sound of Music, A League of their Own...
I'm sure there are more, but I don't feel like thinking right now.
Books
I'M ALWAYS LOOKING FOR BOOK SUGGESTIONS! :-)
I had a list of books here, but then I decided to replace it all with a collage from librarything.com, before I realized that librarything uses javascript, which MySpace doesn't allow. Boo-urns.
No more textbooks! Although I do have a strange desire to read popular press business books. Other than that, I'm delving into modern classics to fill my unemployed days. First up, a collection of short stories by F. Scott Fitzgerald about St. Paul. Next in the pile... James Joyce and Henry Miller. Hopefully I get a job before I get to these books, though!

About me: Do NOT send me a friend request without a message. It's just lazy and it will be deleted immediately. Try starting a conversation first... :-)
At heart, I'm an autumn girl...
This is what I'd look like if I was a cartoon (yes, that's a sundress AND a dog collar *grin*):
So, you want to make the world a better place? Too bad it's never gonna happen.
Of all the types, you have to be one of the hardest to find fault in. You have a selfless and caring nature. You're a good listener and someone who wants to avoid conflict. You genuinely desire to do good.
Of course, these all add up to an incredibly overpowered conscience which makes you feel guilty and responsible when anything goes wrong. Of course, it MUST be your fault EVERYTIME.
Though you're constantly on a mission to find the truth, you have no use for hard facts and logic, which is a source of great confusion for those of us with brains. Despite this, in a losing argument, you're not above spouting off inaccurate fact after fact in an effort to protect your precious values.
You're most probably a perfectionist, which in this case, is a bad thing. Any group work is destined to fail because of your incredibly high standards.
Disregard what I said before. You're just easy to find fault in as everyone else!
Luckily, you're generally very hard on yourself, meaning I don't need to waste my precious time insulting you. Instead, just find all your own faults and insult yourself.
Who I'd like to meet: I don't know.... maybe you. :-) If you'd like to get to know me, send me a message instead of just a friend request. Sending a request doesn't make me your friend... but sending a message just might.
As for bands, I only accept national acts that I've seen live or Chicago area bands. If you have a local band somewhere other than Chicago (or maybe the Twin Cities), I wish you the best of luck, but I'm not your friend.

You know what is the most hysterical part of that... I actually applied for a reporter job at that paper last week!! Maybe I won't take it if they come calling...
lol that kitten lets me do ANYTHING. he's more like a puppy. he even comes when he's called and stretches up to get pats on the head when you walk by him. :)
well thank you! i'd definitely take that as a compliment. i think what really puts us in the soad category is the lack of boundries on our music and just writing what we feel. so whats new? going or been to any good shows?
