I was listening to NPR's "California Report" on my way to work this AM (I'm living in San Diego) and when their exit music played, which is just a snip-it of sound, I knew - just knew - it was Victory at Sea. Alas, I just checked their website, as they're so kind to list such important information for us music lovers, and yes - it was "The Open Road" from Carousel. Bravo!
I was surfing around Mixi which is the Japanese equivalent of Friendster (not quite myspace because there is not much music)
There was a topic in Blonde Redhead community to "suggest other bands to listen to if you like BRH" and this one person listed VaS, Unwound and a Japanese band called ummo/mica which I didn't know until today.
hello! i was at your show in italy, it was at the gradara's castle, then i found you again in brooklin opening for the appleseed cast! how are you guys? always listen to your music!
my friend stole my copy of the dark is just the night about 2 years ago ::cough:: ::cough:: mike anderson. how can i get my hands on the cd or vinyl. i know its oop.
Dear all, sad news but fortunately you're leaving an impressive legacy. We've been listening to Memories Fade a lot lately. Let's hope all the good ones don't fade that easily. Good luck with all your future projects. And if you ever plan to come over again, you're always welcome. And Mona, luckily you were on time, keep on loving life!
My hands are all shaky and sweetty while i'm riding this... actualy i'm crying as well -_- can this be true??! I was just in my boyfriend car hearing undesarible and i said "hey i NEED a new cd by victory at sea, i'll chek the news" and here i am :'( girl... why?? -_-
just want to say that the music you did was GREAT really great. Good look whit all your projects people.
ever since i saw you guys at krazyfest in louisville ive been a fan. you all had a major impact on me musically and one of your drummers (carl) had a major impact on my arm when he fell on me. thank you.
my drumming has never been the same since the very first time i heard 'carousel.' you guys have always been my favorite band, hands down. you've done amazing, heartbreaking work. you will be missed.
Beautiful that I can find your tunes @ Lou's records out here (CA). Before I drove west from home I was lucky enough to see you kids play at the Middle East... & TT's (several shows... maybe 7 or so?)
Went for the cross-country drive to here with "Carousel", and during the Blizzard Of '78 I almost died... The song swelled & about two handfulls of deer charged across the street of whatever town the kitten, the lady & I were passing through! They looked like rain fleeting across the headlights of the car.
The song's taken up a residency in my heart.
You all make me miss Massachusetts! Please plan a reunion and I'll fly back for it!
i've only just found out about the break up now and i have to say i'm really bummed out by it.All Your Things Are Gone was not only my favourite record of last year, but one of my favourites of all time.
i wish you got to play ireland, i wish more people had better taste.
your record got me through a pretty shitty time staying at a couples resort on my own (i was the Best Man at a wedding for a friend who'd long since stopped being one) and i remember sitting on my own watching the sun go down, drinking a beer and listening to the Letter and thinking it was one of the most beautiful songs ever made. i loved the sound of the drums, the keys, mona's bewitching voice-it all sounded perfect.too perfect it seems...

Yo Victory at Sea- Nobody forget about you? Never! Been mad busy in the streets, building, creating, and just trying to elevate, ya dig. Stay positive. Stay Beautiful. Stay YOU! - TMNK
If it's true, you guys breaking up...that would be a big loss. I love your music! It aches a little that I didn't get to see you live. Enjoy your beautiful lives further on!
