The horde Viking Throne was born in 2000, from the will of Count Nidhogg (Vocals) to start a Black Metal horde that makes pagan/Viking themes on the lyrics with a sometimes fast and aggressive, sometimes folk and classical music form.
At the very beginning, he couldn’t find the correct members to start his idea, when he found on Falsog (keyboards) on 2001, the partner to make things happen, and they start to write the musics and lyrics to the first Viking Throne’s Demo CD.
Both of then tried very hard to find members to join the band, but no one they could found, except for the drummer Ragnarok, who joined the band on the middle of the year, and for this reason, they invited some guest musicians, with no gig made since then, and recorded the first Viking Throne Demo CD, that was released on September 01’, and the name of the first artifact was “... From the Weak Daylight to the Almighty Empire of Night”.
With three compositions from the Band (Emperor of this World, Behold as the Churches burn in the Crimson Horizons and Thy Ancient Throne), the Demo had a very good answers from zines and specialized publications, besides its raw sound, that didn’t show the real complexity of their music.
On December of the same year, the band made their first gig, on Garage Art Club, with the same musicians from the recording of the Demo, and one new member appeared then, the lead guitarist Tyr, who joined the band some weeks before the gig.
After the first show, the guest musicians departed from the band, and on January of 2002, Kazyklu Bey (bass guitar) joined the band, and they started to work hard on a new process of composition, but on April of the same year, Falksog left the band for particular reasons, been followed by Ragnarok on May.
On the same month, Stormbringer (drums) joined the band, and they start to prepare the new material to make a new gig, on Casa da Zorra, on August of 2002, showing their music to the present people.
The new material was a little more melodic, but it conserves the aggressive power of the band, but on September, the band had stopped for a little time until January of 2003, when joined the band Winterfrost (keyboards) and Barbatos (lead guitar), fulfilling the ranks of Viking Throne.
After a time of preparation, the band played their first show with the new line-up on April of 2003, along with Impacto Profano, Unearthly and Iconoclasm (from Belgium), and the band showed to the present audience their real work:
The band’s music is very powerful, but sometimes has a very melodic approach.
A new gig they played on June, along with Demogorgon, Poeticus Severus, Defacer and Arminius.
On August, Kazyklu Bey left the band for particular reasons, and a new guitarist entered the band (Nocturnal Funeral), because Barbatos started to play bass.
With this line-up, Viking Throne entered the studio to record their second Demo CD, called “Strandhugg - the Heart of the Frozen Throne”, with three new songs.
They played a new gig on October, with Misteriis, Land of Tears and Repugnant Gore, releasing the second artefact.
But the changes on the line-up continues, for Stormbringer left the band after the gig, and Winterfrost, Nocturnal Funeral and Barbatos left the band on December of the year, been replaced by Midgard (keyboards – ex-Unearthly), on January of 2004.
By the end of 2005 the band stops its activities for almost two years and in the beginning of 2008 gets back in scene and release two songs in a Sweden compilation (Salute Records), "We are war" from its second Demo CD and a new versions of "The Christian's Slayer". Afterwards, during the middle of 2008 the band signs with Zero Effect Records and at this moment is working for the release on its debut CD.
