BIO
Viki Nova is the "little girl with the big voice." She leaves fans wondering where that heartfelt, sometimes intimate, sometimes gritty and powerful voice came from. She draws comparisons to everyone from Gwen Stefani to Janis Joplin. She is also quite the songwriter. Her first single, Nothing Changes won honors from the Great American Song Contest. Other songs from her debut album, "Catch Me If You Can!" have been called "power pop gems" that "beg for radio play."
Viki started making a name for herself in Northern Virginia with just her and her acoustic guitar around 2002. Since then she wrote & recorded her debut album, started her own record label, turned her acoustic show into a rock show with the addition of a full band, opened for Train and The Barenaked Ladies, scored a spot on a national magazine's yearly compilation CD, got nominated by WAMA for "best rock vocals" of 2004, toured Japan to play for our troops in 2005, relocated to MD for easier access to tour the East Coast, and is now making regular appearances on regional radio including DC101, 98 Rock, WHFS and Z104, as she gets busy writing for her next release.
A very driven young girl, Viki has always taken her career in her own hands. She formed her own record label, Think For Yourself Records (appropriately also the name of a Beatles song) to release her first CD. Viki Nova has become the it girl in the Northern Virginia/DC/Baltimore local music scene, playing nearly 15 16 times a month backed by the most talented and hardest working band in the area.
