As a child growing up in New Jersey, Vikki Bell always had a creative imagination and literary gift. She recounts many instances where professors and friends told her she needed to do something with her writing ability after reading one of her short stories or papers. While attending The University of Maryland at College Park she remembers getting A’s on 20-30 page papers that she threw together the previous night. Even though Bell may not have recognized her special talent, several of her classmates did, and consulting on papers became a very lucrative business for the ghost writer during her college years. Many of Bell’s clients/ classmates to this day, feel that they would not have graduated without her assistance. But she still was not convinced. After going through some life transitions, Bell saw that she was going to have time on her hands one summer and started looking for something to fill the void. Being the confidant and great friend to many, she realized that she had a wealth of information about life, love and relationships. She decided to take a leap of faith and wrote her first book, If I Could Sing This Life I Live. It’s a beautiful tale of true love, family and friendship that jumps off the pages. At times you can almost smell the main characters, Coco and Myles, as you travel through the chapters with them. It is a fictional book, but while reading you experience the joys and tragedies that life truly offers. Bell says, “My writing style touches the side of love that is revealed when life really happens.” The overwhelming success of her first novel has birthed a cult following of readers across the country. While on the road promoting her debut book, she started realizing that her fans wanted more from Coco and Myles. Bell recounts, “I would continuously hear, ‘what’s going to happen next, do they get married?’ ‘You should write another book about those two’.” Knowing their story ended with a romantic cliff hanger, Bell gave her fans exactly what they wanted, Coco and Myles Part II. Her sophomore book is titled, A Song for You. This book keeps you intrigued and touches your emotions much like its predecessor. Tales of this realistic modern day love story have readers glued to that book and finishing it in one sitting. Bell has been contacted by production companies and TV networks, Coco and Myles may possibly hit the big screen in the near future. Bell has recently finished her third novel titled, One Finger Left. It is currently in production and will hit book shelves February 14th, 2008. She also writes a weekly blog, where she discusses contemporary social issues that affect our community. She blogs as JerzeeChick at http://epiphanyblog.wordpress.com/. Bell is a diamond in the rough! Be a part of spreading the word on the next big thing.
If I Could Sing This Life I Live
Coco considers her family "forced friends"! She thinks that in order to maintain some semblance of control in her personal life, she has to keep her family out of it. Myles is not buying it. He thinks that Coco is hiding something and can't understand why no one in her family knows he exists. His patience is wearing thin, and she can't keep him hidden forever. Eventually her family will collide with her personal life, but will Myles still stand by her when the smoke clears? Will they be there for each other it really counts?
A Song for You
How much is too much when it comes to the people we love? Does true love know no limit? Is friendship the one thing that will always stand the test of time? Coco and Myles seem to have the perfect life. He’s a successful businessman and her career is taking off as well. They love with their whole hearts and believe that if they are there for one another everything else will fall into place. Coco and Myles faced tragedy together once and came out on top. Now that real life is happening to them again, how much is too much?
1 Finger Left
The world can be a lonely place for a single career woman in her thirties, but having good girlfriends to lean on makes life a lot easier. Monica is praying for a husband. Alneesa thinks she’s found her perfect match. Lola is consumed with everything except love and Camille has given herself ten chances to get it right. What happens when you think God has answered your prayers, but your friends think you’re crazy? How do you take a chance on love when you know this is your last shot? 1 Finger Left is a humorous tale of friendship, love, and four women’s quest to find their own happy endings.
Corey "Coco" Davis has met the perfect man, unfortunately her family is less than perfect and thus she is reluctant to introduce Myles to them. Myles is very loving and supportive of her new career move and she reciprocates. Although she knows his family well, she continued to keep his existence hidden from her dysfunctional family. After a surprise visit from her family, Coco realizes it is inevitable that Myles will meet her family. Her prayer is that he is willing to accept them.
IF I COULD SING THIS LIFE I LIVE is an emotionally charged love story. The love between Myles and Coco jumps off the pages, allowing the reader to feel how deeply they love one another. Bell has titled each chapter with a song title and artist ranging from hip-hop, to neo-soul, to love songs and old school tunes. The central theme of the book is the importance of family, no matter how messed up they may be. Readers can easily identify with the characters and find one who is similar to someone in their own family. I laughed out loud and also shed several tears during my reading experience. This novel is funny, rings true and teaches a lot about love and family.

Vikki Bell does an excellent job of capturing the true essence love, family ties, and friendships...the ties that bind, the tragedy that stands to tear them apart, and the unconditional love that transcends all boundaries. Looking for to Ms. Bell's next novel.
Want to know what the perfect man looks like, find it in this fun and easy to read book. I read it on a couple of plane trips and enjoyed every minute of it. It's about life with your girlfriends, life with your boyfriend, life without a boyfriend, life with family. There is joy and trajedy. It's life. I enjoyed this great escape. I am anxious for the follow-up book.
The tittle of this book is a bit misleading and may cause some readers to overlook it. The Author captures the reader's attention from the very start. The characters are deep, the book flows beautifully from one page to the next. You will laugh, cry and root for the heroine.
