In 2002 Karin Håkansson formed Vila. She wanted to try out some arrangements she had recently done of some Swedish psalms. She gathered some friends and everybody felt almost right away that their common mission was to pass on the old tradition of singing psalms to younger generations. They felt that there was this treasure of Swedish psalms that wasn’t sung in the churches because they didn’t feel modern. In 2006 Vila released their first album “PS – Psalmer på nytt sätt” on the label David Media. On the album you can find the band’s favourite psalms performed with lot of joy and close to the essence of the original psalm. Today Vila continue to play modern arrangements on old psalms, and the band includes piano, bass, drums, vocals and saxophone. The group tour all around Sweden and they have also performed in radio and TV. Sometimes Vila work with local choirs.

It’s not a hip funky grooovay song. It’s not praise and worship... It’s a story!!
Imagine the lifechanging experience the shepherds had outside of Bethelem. They heard the angels sing!
Then imagine the same shepherds 33 years later when they saw Jesus die. Again a lifechanging event... and this time I don’t think they heard angel voices.
It MUST have changed their lives. Both events! Suddenly there was a “before” and an “after”.
