With the combined forces of northern and southern Wisconsin, Vile Red was born in Eau Claire in June of 2003. Vile Red is a female fronted melodic metal band influenced by old and Swedish metal. The band consists of four members: Joel and Shawn Stelmaszewski (bass and guitar), Justin Terry (drums), and Julie Schultz (vocals). The mix of powerful driving riffs and intense female vocals clearly display their individual styles and influences. When anyone mentions Vile Red, youre bound to hear the phrase, female-fronted. Its cliché, but its notable none-the-less. Especially in Eau Claire, and especially since Vile Reds sound is derived from a world gushing with testosterone and pounding with double bass kicks, says Volume One Magazine. Its about as crunchy as local music comes, but the texture of vocalist Julie Schultzs near-operatic vocals takes their sound to a unique place that just cant be matched by other area metal bands. Vile Red has seen their fair share of radio play in and around the area, as well as a growing fan base from Eau Claire and many other areas of the state. Their self-titled 4 song Demo was released earlier in 2004, and since then has sold half a thousand copies. Currently the band is on the move to branch out nationally, while at the same time, perfecting their song writing that has been turning heads since they exploded onto the metal scene that so desperately needed a band like this.
