The Vile started in the small midwest town of McHenry in September of 2001.
Since then, the band has gone through many lineup changes and several hiatuses.
The Original lineup consisted of Elvis Mung: Vocals, Mike Skull:bass, Ryan Nicholson: guitar and Conor Cannibal: drums. This was the lineup that would be on and off for four years with the exception of two singers: Ian Fiester of late 2003 and Aaron Lovittz of early 2004. The original lineup regrouped for one last show at Gunther Murphy's in Chicago with Tragic Black. Shortly after, Ryan and Conor split to persue progressive rock careers. Mike Skull went on to perform with legendary Deathrock band 45 Grave which was short lived. As of late 2007, 3/4 of the original members have reformed The Vile to rock the U.S. Beer Company for their finale show.
As for discography, The Vile has two basement recordings in circulation among the Chicagoland scene. Both are unsolicited and not released under any major or independent record label. This collection includes an early live recording in 2002 titled," Invasion" and is no longer obtainable. The second was a demo recorded in September of 2005 in a moldy basement. The recording is properly titled, "demo" and is still available.
The Vile has played many shows in the past five years, including three in Chicago under professional production companies. They stormed the stage of the Congress theatre in 2002 for the EXPOSURE battle of the bands(in which they placed 3rd of 73 bands), at Gunther Murphy's in August of 2005 in association with Mitternacht Productions and once again with The Brides at the NiteCap Lounge with American Gothic Productions and Rose Red Productions.
