About me:

Ten Thousand Villages, Austin is a volunteer run, fair trade 501 (c) (3) non-profit retail store providing income to artisans from more than 30 countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America by marketing their handicrafts and telling their stories in the Austin area. The inspiration for our name came from a Mahatma Gandhi quote. To us, each village in the world, as captured in our logo with lighted homes, is a unique, distinctive community that can offer us extraordinary products made of their own rich cultures and traditions.

Who I'd like to meet:

While continuing to help artisans all around the world, the Austin store continually seeks to spread the message of free trade in the community with its outreach efforts and by creating long term partnerships with other like minded individuals and organizations. The store arranges benefit events for non profit partners that market the event to their supporters and receive up to 15% of the night’s sales.
