   About Ezequiel Viñao
GET "ARCANUM" from

Described by the members of the Juilliard String Quartet as a "particularly personal and intimate musical voice", Ezequiel was born in Argentina on 21 July 1960. Early on he became interested in music technology and the rhythmic cycles of India, both of which were later to become significant features of his music. The press has alternately described Viñao's work as: "of great contemplative beauty" (Le Monde de la Musique, France); "monumental" (Stuttgarter Nachrichten, Germany); "concentrated, evocative (and) of austerely theatrical force" (The London Times); "engaging the ear in a fantastic harmonic language" (The Washington Post); "filling the hall with a sense of expectation and cresting excitement" (The Los Angeles Times); "intensely communicative" (Fanfare, USA); "always beautiful, exquisitely sustained" (Express-News, USA); "powerful and compelling" (The Record, Canada) and "fascinating" (Newsday, USA). Ezequiel's work has been commissioned and presented by leading performers and organizations around the world. The list includes Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, City Opera and The Kitchen in New York; the Kennedy Center and the Library of Congress in Washington; the Celebrity Series at Jordan Hall in Boston; the Tanglewood, Ravinia and Aspen Music Festivals; the Musikverein in Vienna; the Almeida Theatre in London; the Tramway in Glasgow; the Presences and Bourges Festivals in France; the Helsinki Biennale; the Philips Hall in Holland; the Shobi Institute in Tokyo; ensembles such as the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the American Composers Orchestra, Chanticleer, Da Camera of Houston, Speculum Musicae, San Francisco Contemporary Music Players and Absolute Ensemble; the Juilliard, Brentano and Smith String Quartets; Dennis Russell Davies, Kristjan Jarvi, Bruno Ferrandis, Joseph Kalichstein, Stephen Gosling and Anne Akiko Meyers.
