But, all of this is mostly present in my voice and my lyrics. For the music, these lists are mostly lies when it comes to composition. My method brings me ideas and I select the ones I prefer.

Sounds Like

I don’t think it is worth doing music if it sounds too much like something else. I believe anybody on this earth can make music unlike any other. The following idea by Gould is close to my philosophy as a composer, but virtuosity is not important to me :

« L’idée que l’on parle de fraude à propos d’une exécution idéale qui a été montée par des moyens mécaniques me hérisse. Si on aboutit à une exécution idéale par le biais d’un maximum d’illusion et de manipulations, chapeau à qui en sont les artisans. Cette idée du moment authentique - avec toutes ses limites - qui compte par dessus tout, me semble absurde. »

Glenn Gould, janvier 1962 pour American Horizon

   About Vincent Bergeron
Casa Del Popolo - July 6th 2008

Info about Aux Limites, Inside Out Like A Chick and À DOS d'un croque-mort is on my new site. It is still in preparation for new music musicians who want to make love easily while they are far away from each others.

The following credits are for the songs appearing on my 2007 album, Philosophie Fantasmagorique. The following collaborators provided samples :

Je m'imaginais...

- Anthony Tan gave permission to use his piano étude Improvisation II.

- Marco Oppedisano provided electric and classical guitars samples.

- Daniel Knox is singing with me and sent me some piano samples.

- Fabienne Lucet (from the Perfect Couple) provided secret language singing.

- Jurica Jelic, Matt Rosin (from Cindervoice) among others also are part of it.

Child Traumatismes

- Marco Oppedisano provided numerous electric guitar samples
- Fabienne Lucet (from the Perfect Couple) provided some vocals

Born december 21, 1979. Solitary child playing by himself 'cause he didn't understand why other kids wanted to be together to do the same things. Vincent decided to make music inspired mostly by his first hero, Björk, which is still one of his favorites among Charles Ives, Brian Wilson (Beach Boys), Captain Beefheart and so many others. In 1997, he started to play with sound softwares. In 2004, he developed an irrational, yet energetic, melodic and structured way of composing that excited him to the maximum. He also added his voice. Impossible music ! Since 2006, he studies cinema and literature at Université de Montréal. He prefer that to corporate journalism that some people teach at Université Laval.

I'm available to work on your movie soundtracks, your video games or music theater performances (like Lalala Human Steps) of any kind. If you need any unusual sound effects, something different for your creation instead of the same boredom of a reversed piano on a minor scale, please contact me. I can work really fast and on several projects at once without any problem.

Solipsism Interview (published 10.10.2006)

About my three albums (2003-2007) :

To clarify things, I never studied music in New-York or anywhere and I compose my music by ear.

"In the course of a lifetime, one encounters very few major musical talents. Vincent Bergeron is one of those few, a unique composer who is at the forefront of musical thinking. I respect his music professionally and I admire it personally. I find it deeply impressive on every level--musical, intellectual, and emotional. In my opinion, Bergeron has had the vision and ability to create richly complex yet immediately accessible music that is both new and natural with beautiful harmonies, melodies and textures. Bergeron's compositions precisely mirror my view of what new music ought to be."
Noah Creshevsky
Composer
Professor Emeritus, Brooklyn College of the City University of New York
Director Emeritus, Center for Computer Music at Brooklyn College

About Philosophie Fantasmagorique (2006-07) :

"Bergeron supplies his vocals with a very bizarre and unheard 'background' of electro-acoustic sounds and music. Background into brackets, because he opens new dimensions with his curiously assembled music. Brilliantly done. He uses many different soundsamples for this music. Often you recognize concrete instruments, other elements are from electronic origin or recordings treated beyond recognition. I,m totally impressed by the carpet he weaves in with plunderphonic approach. Very original collage work, producing in an highly imaginative music that is totally fascinating. I would qualify his compositions as songs in the end. And for some reason I associate them with the world of opera and musical. The eccentric Bergeron creates energetic and dramatic music and textures, little psycho-dramas. He sings in french most of time, sometimes a mixture of french and english. I couldn't make much of it, but the texts are an important element for Bergeron [...] it is impossible not to be impressed by this often hilarious music, that is compelling and very listenable. Bergeron is a true original talent, of a kind that is seldomly met. Watch this guy! (Dolf Mulder)."

Vital Weekly

About Casse-tête de l'Existence (2004) :

"No matter how versed you are in experimental music, you have never heard anything quite like Vincent Bergeron's Casse-Tête de l'Existence (Puzzle of Existence). Imagine, if you will, plunderphonics coupled with progressive rock, and sample deconstruction and sound collage used as techniques to assemble hiccupping operas [...] the result sounds a lot like a bloodbath at a prog rock convention -- or the digital bastard child of Peter Gabriel-era Genesis and Fantômas. [...] If the basic material tends to give a unique orientation to each piece, it seems there is no limit to what Bergeron can make his samples do. Profoundly disturbing but ceaselessly fascinating, Casse-Tête de l'Existence is oddness to the umpteenth degree. Obviously, the world is not ready for this."

Comment refuser après un tel commentaire!? D'autant plus que ma connexion du moment est pourrie alors je devrai contrôler ma curiosité pour l'instant et me contenter de l'image que j'ai de Francis Dhomont planant sur une planche de surf. . .
C'est déjà pas mal! Merci!

Thanks for the connection! A very interesting conception of future cinematic music. It seems like ninja cuts of classical and jazz tunes arranged in an unique way! And it's beautiful! "Bush Fellings" has a really good flavour!
