VINCENT MALLEA biography by J.C. FEDERICI
Military Path
For the past 10 years, Vincent Mallea worked as a renowned photographer and a graphic designer for many productions and press releases. Born in the south of France, he sees himself as a romantic gentleman as well as a seductive rascal. His eclectic past gave him the opportunity to collaborate with a number of artists on memorable interviews pictures, disc covers and show posters (Philippe Katerine, Marie-France, Robert, Billy Crawford, Majandra Delphino, Zizi Jeanmaire and more recently the fresh electric trublion Yelle... etc.).
PICTORIAL SYMPHONY
He derives his visual identity from a variety of sources including Hollywood and French cinema from the Fifties and Sixties, a variety of Art academies, the advertising world, a number of esoteric images as well as traditional family photography. This is illustrated in his calendar (JOIE EN 2003) along with images of fashion and editorial portraits.
He opens up and lets his warmth come through, without revealing the layers which make him the artist that shines through without limits in his pictorial art. ART EXPOS
His dreams want to meet reality… In May 2004, he exposes some of his images which is a shining first for him. Since then he continues to demonstrate different techniques and styles such as his high color works (HIVER EN RUSSE) and a number of specific photoshoots for prestigious magazines (Coast, Studio, Technikart, Preferences etc.).
He favors composition, and this results in photos that are like rough material waiting to be carved, refined, stuck on and taken off… just like old movie posters during the restoration process. From then on, his works start to conquer the advertising world (the acclaimed ad campaign for eBookers in 2006). PINK AZURE
Vincent knows the Riviera like his pocket and how to capture it, much deeper than what the eye sees. He has a true vision of what is really there. Humour and tenderness on fire, he recently presented his big hit series entitled FRENCH RIVIERA, which provides a personal tour of his childhood region. A number of french personalities have posed for his work (Jean Claude Dreyfus, Elodie Frege, Laurent Artufel from tv channels Pink & FRANCE 2 and porn-stars like François Sagat (see the video of the shooting of FRANCOIS-FRANCESCO for FRENCH RIVIERA above)
This series was largely exposed by the media, of which the Set emission of Pink TV hosting Vincent in December 2005.
FRENCH RIVIERA was visible in its complete version in Nice, until the end of september 2007. This current winter, his SERIE ROSE was also presented in the pinky interiors of voguish parisian restaurant, Starcooker PLASTIC WORKS
In each picture, one wonders how so much complicity could be born between the sensitive artist and boys and girls who pose in pink, over a background of flags turned inside out... That is Vincent’s Secret.
He is presently workining form in his loft, in particular the series EN AVANT and FORCE&FOI. He is also working on some very original concepts that couple romantic photography with hardcore pornography. FUTURE TEXTURES
His body of work is opening itself up to new horizons and textures. Vincent was recently commissioned an extensive trompe-l’,,il fresco to decorate the legendary parisian night club Les Bains Douches. Today, he is about to give some of his collages a new light in different spaces and will soon explore the world of animated pictures.
Those who know Vincent will be struck to see how much his work reflects his own personality… The expression is often colored with nostalgia, sexually flourished and emotionally charged. The proof that erotic fantasy and nostalgic happiness truly are eternal lovers.
