About me:
Hi, my name is Vince and I'm a musician. I play bass guitar, electric guitar, keyboards, drums and sing. I write songs for The Crossway Worship Band and produce recordings for them. My wife Janis and I have been married since January 17, 1993 and together we have 2 beautiful daughters: Madison 13 and Mariah 10. I play bass for the local group "The Super 5". It's a lot of fun. I like working with everyone in that band. The crowds are awesome! I love my church family, my kids, my incredibly beautiful wife (I don't deserve her).
I am the CEO, Owner, & Chief Engineer for Apogee Sound Recorders in Memphis, TN. Apogee is a 32-Track Digital Pro-Tools facility powered by MACPRO. I've re-designed the front two rooms of my house with thick doors/glass, and Auralex Acoustic treatments, and have eliminated the parallel surfaces from floor to ceiling/wall to wall in both the control room and the tracking room for optimum frequency response. It's not perfect.......BUT IT SURE SOUNDS GREAT IN HERE!!!!
I have in-house drums that get tuned up on a regular basis and just before sessions. I also have plenty of guitars, basses, and keyboards. I also have some really great mics for recording drums, vocals, guitars, etc.
I'm an 'old-school' analog guy that was more comfortable with 2" tape and a 1/2" 2-track. I don't like computers all that much but it sure beats paying $200 for a roll of tape. I absolutely LOVE Pro-Tools. It's fast and it sounds wonderful....not as good as 2" Tape but if I keep searching I'll get there. The microphone is the 'instrument' of the recording engineer/producer. My favorite producers are Alan Parsons, Mutt Lang, SPECTOR, and George Martin. My Favorite engineers/producers in Memphis are PETE MATTHEWS, JASON LATSHAW, SKID MILLS, JAMES LOTT, NICKO LYRAS & DAVID COWELL. I still believe that if you can get the best sound at the source with the right mic you can get a great recording without clouding it up with artificial doo-doo.
