Vinnie “Da Ginnie” Medugno is a charity worker, radio disc jockey, and an entertainer! He puts out all stops and makes each performance his best. Within these recent years, Vinnie sings and emcees for the local party scene as a disc jockey or "DJ". He enjoys interacting with crowds by singing and being the life of the party. As a Freshman at the College of Staten Island in the Fall of 2005, Vinnie took a major interest in being a Disc Jockey on the radio. He joined the WSIA family at the college and hooked up with an "old timer" named Carl Sabitino, who was the featured name on the Morning Show for four years. Vinnie joined Carl and took over the show as Carl left in the summer of 2005. The show was a success titled “Medugno In The Morning” and aired every Friday Morning from 7am-10am. Medugno's on-air charisma and personality was so natural and enthusiastic that the figureheads at the station had no choice but to allow him to host his own afternoon dance show titled "Decades of Dance with Vinnie Da Ginnie," a name given to him for his very Italian culture and spelt to rhyme with Vinnie. He featured all of the best dance classics from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and even the dance music of today every Friday evening from 4pm-7pm. He was the hottest show on the station, with celebrity guests and live broadcasts like no other jock on the station could ever do. During his run at WSIA he hosted all sorts of specials that take place on the radio including the thirty-hour “WSIA Yule Log“, which featured holiday favorites as well as family times and holiday traditions.
Recently he left WSIA to pursue his career in singing. As he departed from the station he left a mark that no other could ever match up to with his unique skill and on air charisma as well as the legacy he fulfilled with listeners and supporters of all ages. As far as performances go, he has been seen singing our Nations Anthem as well as God Bless America for numerous Staten Island Yankee games. Credits awarded him first runner up in the St. George Theatre’s Staten Island Idol contest where he competed against over one hundred contestants. He can be seen annually at the theatre’s holiday spectacular and seen doing his hundreds of appearances on the scene of both private and public affairs throughout the year. He has opened for many big names in the industry as well as introduced many performers in the club scene. He is always seen rubbing elbows with some big names throughout the industry. His love for charity is undying, and he supports all causes. He has performed and appeared for Breast Cancer, Victims of Fires, American Cancer Society, Organ Donors, the MDA’s Jerry’s Kids, and BRIGHT STEPS FORWARD, a new organization for children affected by traumas of Autism and Cerebral Palsy. He performs and raises funds for their events along with their national spokesperson and great friend of the Medugno Family, Joseph R. Gannascoli a.k.a Vito from the HBO original hit series, The Sopranos. At the same time, he works with many local singers and artists. He assists in road management for the incomparable number one hit recording artist Angelo Venuto. He also promotes and helps with publicity for artists such as the legendary Freestyle Queen, Judy Torres, Dance Music Queen Reina, Amuka and Andrea Carnell. Alongside his friend Angelo Venuto he can be found assisting in the management to the Venuto girls Maria and Concetta following in their fathers footsteps and aspiring to be successful singers.
At the start of 2009 Vinnie has also been seen working alongside Brooklyn’s Own Joe Causi as an assistant for both events and his broadcast at WCBSFM, home of New York’s Greatest hits 101.1FM. In March of 2009 Vinnie also received an award from the Reali Foundation on Staten Island NY for all of his dedication and giving of himself to local and community services. They honored him as a youth community activist for all of his charity works; and just recently Vinnie has joined the Casa records family alongside producer Freddy Retro and they released a track called "We Are Meant To Be," which was Medugno's debut into the dance music world as more than just a radio personality. He ranked #5 on the Billboard Breakout Charts for the month of July 2009 and was featured on the September 2009 Underground Club Compilation of PROMO ONLY. Coming in the Fall of 2009 a follow up record is on the way that will be sure to be a huge hit!
Returning to radio, Vinnie was recruited by the Overdrive Radio family where he can heard hosting shows and doing his thing on the mic weekly, as he features the hottest and newest dance music from local to established artists. He sits along side mixmasters and many of his long time artist friends will be stopping by to visit on the air as well.
Vinnie is grateful to all those along the way who have helped him become the person and performer that he is today. His message of love is one for people of all ages. He hopes to continue doing what he does, because he loves it and thanks God for giving him the gift to share with all!
Vinnie has been asked to perform and/or host events that support these causes and organizations or independent parties that put together these events in fundraising efforts for people affected by any of the various unfortunate situations shown above. He has also appeared for countless amounts of private cases and has absolutely no objection in doing so. Please feel free to contact Vinnie if you need his help with any fundraising effort.
