Vinny Vinny are the ace face in the UK soul movement. The fresh rediscovery of soul music as a young persons pursuit is spreading across the country like an oil slick wave of All-Nighters. Evenings filled with High energy dancing sparked off by music which captures both melody and fast tempo grooves, is converting the mindset of audiences everywhere. Vinny Vinny are running the show with tunes like Broke up the Family and 'I sold my sister'. Just two year on since their forming and these boys sit as the Godfathers of todays Soul frenzy.
The sound of 'Jim Morrison gettin blown by Aretha Franklin is created by Nunny (Vocals / Guitar) Mitch (Drums / Vocal) Dan (Guitar / Vocals) and Luke (Bass). These four school mates got so disenchanted by the lack of good nights out in their surrounding area, that they started hiring out the clubs of Southend and Chelmsford to put on their aptly named Filthy Soul club nights. These attempts to reinvent the positive social atmospheres from the 70s All-Nighters were so inspiring that there was no choice but to start a band where the music held the same core values.
So what’s different about this band then? Well Vinny Vinny construct a set just like a DJ. Keep banging out the tunes so that every heel and toe in the room is banging a rhythm on the dance floor. No gaps, no silence, no moody reflective singer songwriter chat half way through the show. Come to a Vinny Vinny gig and they won’t stop til everyone is twistin, moving, shaking, roller skating and gyrating their way into tomorrow. And if you aint sure how that looks, just watch them coz they got all the moves you’ll need.
The overriding honesty in the intensions of the music, their personalities on and off stage, and their ambitions to make the big time by being the flagship for Nu-Soul, is whats so appealing about this band.
