This season the affordable vintage fashion fair will mostly be fashioning the ‘make do and mend’ trend. The fairs will not only hold 40 stalls of fantastic vintage fashions for men and women from 1940s to 1980s but they will also hold a ‘make, create and customise’ area.

The Affordable Vintage Fashion Fair has been roaming the north of England for the past three years, stopping off at Leeds, Sheffield, Nottingham, Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle. The largest vintage fair of its kind now attracts people from all ages and sizes with one common interest – affordable vintage and unique clothing.

Stall holders come from all over the UK to sell their wares, from 1940s lingerie to 50s prom dresses, 60s shift dresses to 70s blouses and 80s jumpsuits. Each event is unique and stalls are merchandised so you can pick up a vintage clutch, then move to the next stall to pick up a dress, then complete the outfit with some unique antique shoes.

‘New Designer’ stalls sit alongside the vintage for customers to mix new with old and create one off outfits. The new designers have become so popular that some have now found agents through the fair and stock in shops all over the country, Mary Benson went on to appear on Mary Queen of Shops.

Customers can bring vintage clothing and bags and have them customised by one of the creative team in the ‘Make, create and customise’ area. If they find an item that needs a little nip and tuck, the designers are on hand to turn it into a customised, item tailored to them. Or if they grow a little tired of that old vintage bag, it can be brought to the fair to be painted and customised. The ‘Create your own jewellery’ stall offers a selection of vintage charms, trinkets and chains to choose from, vintage reclaimed will create a customised one off piece of jewellery.
