Music

Curtis Mayfield, Lynn Collins (it takes two to make it outta sight), Mtume, Cameo, Sly Stone, Miles Davis, Betty Davis, Nina Simone, The JBs, Alice Russell, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, oh god there's no end... oh and all the hip hop classics like Nas, Camp Lo, Redman, Kweli, Mos Def, Common, Tribe, De la soul, Roots, Blackalicious ("aural pleasure," baby), RZA, Jay Dilla as well as Ghostface, J-live, Jean Grey, People Under the Stairs (smile like a caribbean isle), Foreign Beggars (check them from the UK)........music moves us all.
Sopranos, In the Actor's Studio (kevin spacey is God), and CARNIVALE... hot jesus, it's got into my dreams.
Books
One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez ; Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie... For an instant mood-lifter, Tom Robbins, for poetry, Michael Ondaatje............. have read thousands and thousands of books in my lifetime. I don't consider myself productive for it. It just gives me an excuse to lie in bed in a state of undress for long periods of time. It also makes me feel like I've experienced way more things than I ever have. I suppose, in a sense, I have experienced them, albeit vicariously. Sometimes I feel like I have lived a thousand lives. Maybe I have.
Heroes

About me: Ruby Jane's taste in music travels the spectrum of soul, both old and new. She’ll drop dancefloor heavy-hitters with a preference for a hot break and female vocals, grooving 80s funk, classic and old-school hip hop, sexy downtempo, and velvety soul that could bring a beast to its knees. Ruby Jane is often booked to DJ at bboying, waacking, locking and popping battles and has had the honour to open for the illustrious Questlove and legendary rapper Maestro. In addition to playing all over Canada, she's brought The Funk to the world, playing in Dublin, NYC, London and Barcelona. Constantly building her collection of funk-inspired music, Ruby Jane aspires to keep helping people get down with their bad selves on the dance floors of Canada and the world at large.
You can find Ruby Jane every Tuesday at Baracca (1134 rue Mont-Royal). Come for tasty tapas and the best mojitos in town and expect her to keep you connected to the rhythm of the one.
Who I'd like to meet: David Bowie...I once dreamed that I came downstairs in the morning and found him at my kitchen table smoking a cigarette. So I fried him some eggs and poured him a coffee. He said, "thanks love" and stared out the window with those blue blue eyes. The End.
Just showin some love, hope ya cool. Keep up the good work, there's no rest for the BLESSED! Add me on facebook if you wanna holla directly. h2thefire@hotmail.com
Bonjour, Luke told me you still live in lovely Montreal. I was up near St Laraunt with Chris Faladou earlier today, looks like a lot of stuff has changed up there. Any help would be appreciated. Anyway hope your good, if you are about this week it would be cool to meet up with you again.
