Vintenar was formed in the winter of 2006 by Josh Smith, Harley Freeman and Jeff Mercer with the intention of creating a symphonic, melodic metal band with strong ties to black and death metal. By blending a sound that mixes European and American influences, they have succeeded at creating something that stands apart from their counterparts in the local Michigan metal scene.
With the later addition of Peg Landenberg and Nick Smith on guitars and bass respectively, Vintenar has played many shows and supported such acts as Kataklysm, Ensiferum, Dying Fetus, Tyr, Turisas, Eluveitie and Keep of Kalessin. They continue to work on their forthcoming full length album, Who Seeks the Waning Moon and look forward to playing more shows in the near future.
