Bio
VIOLATION 13 (aka V13), founded in March 2003 in Genk, Belgium, a bunch of old-time friends decided the time had come to pick up some instruments and play music of their beloved bands, covering a wide range of styles mainly in punk rock, hardcore, hard rock and metal. Naming the band Violation 13, the 5 band members soon decided to leave the covers behind and compose their own self written material, songs that were highly influenced by the likes of Ramones, Misfits, Discharge, Anti-nowhere league etc. Early 2006 a line-up change took place: Dave and Jan joined Violation 13. The band's sound was spiced up with more street punk and punk rock ‘n’ roll influences. Pretty soon V13 started writing a whole bunch of new material and managed to draw more attention locally. A 3rd demo was recorded, entitled “Suicide Commando” which showed the band’s progress. Still not satisfied by the overall sound and power though, the search went on for a lead guitarist. Sisse joined in just a little later and late 2006 Violation 13 was a 5-piece band again. The band felt the right chemistry. More songs were written and several live gigs followed. During 2007, Violation 13 managed to further establish a name in the circuit, shared stages with renowned names like Beowülf (Venice, USA), Born To Lose (Austin, USA) and played a couple of local festivals like Vospop, Hexenkessel, Rockglabbik and Dirty Herrie. After being encouraged by several folks to make a record, the band finally hit the studio in January 2008 to record their 11 song debut album entitled “Raisin’ Hell” engineered by Ivan S at Grindhouse Studio. This album covers the band’s 5 year history and combines street punk, rock ‘n’ roll, punk rock, oi and hardcore into one flaming mix entitled “Genkster Punk”. Violation 13 disbanded in August 2008 due to personal differences. Final line-up: RUBEN-JAN-DAVID-PETER-SISSE -
