Psychedelic rock band formed in 1984 in São Paulo, they started making a reputation in the underground scene in the following year, when they recorded a demo tape with the songs "Outono", "Dia Eterno", "Declínio de Maio" and "Reflexos da Noite". The tape got heavy rotation on alternative radio stations in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. In 1986, they recorded a three-track EP on Wop Bop label and got signed up by RCA (currently BMG) in 1987, releasing the debut album "Violeta de Outono". After the package named "The Early Years" (comprised of a cassette tape, an EP and a libretto), the follow-up album, "Em Toda Parte", came about in 1989. In 1991, vocalist and guitarist Fabio Golfetti left the band to dedicate himself to the project Invisible Opera Company of Tibet, releasing the album, "Glissando Spirit" in 1997, through the English label Voiceprint. Violeta de Outono made a comeback in 1994, recording new demo tapes and a new album, but they ended up releasing "Eclipse", with live recordings from 1986. The album with new songs, "Woman In The Mountain", was released in 1999, featuring recordings made four years before.

After 20 years down the road, Violeta de Outono released their CD “ Ilhas” in 2005, regarded as their best recorded album to date and the recently realeased DVD “Violeta de Outono & Orquestra”, making their presence felt and their recognizable creative and high quality sound.

Syd Barrett Tribute

Since the beginning of their career Violeta de Outono have played their own versions of Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd’s classics. In September 2005, by a request from online TV UOL, they have gone into the studios to record ‘Lucifer Sam’, from the legendary album “The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn”. The idea was also their own wish to pay a tribute to Syd, having their psychedelia revisiting the musical subtleties of the genius of Syd Barrett. With several dates lined up for 2006, Violeta de Outono performs several classics, from the intergalactic ‘Interestellar Overdrive’, to the oniric world of ‘Matilda Mother’ and ‘Flaming’, as well as Syd’s own enigmatic songs from his solo works “The Madcap Laughs” and “Barrett”. Violeta de Outono is: Fabio Golfetti, guitar and vocal; Gabriel Costa, bass and vocal; Fernando Cardoso, piano, organ and vocal & Claudio Souza, drums.
