"It may have been done before, but not quite like this." What started out as a feisty "2 girls, 2 guitars" acoustic duo has morphed into a full-out rock band sensation that is anything but your average chick group.
Marrying sweet harmonies, fiery strumming and cleverly emotional lyricism, Violet Static (formerly known as Vyletz) has created an undisputed sound all their own. Pressed to define just what that sound is, chelle says, "Whatever our sound is, it's nothing short of honest and passionate."
Liz Stembridge and Michelle Turingan first started playing together in 2000 and since then have recruited Cheryl Christensen to join the ranks, creating an unarguable mash of talent, personality, and transcendent musicianship.
In 2001, the then Vyletz duo released their debut album, Galactic Cherry Delay, which was followed up by Cherry Pits: The Tom Foolery EP in 2002. Four years later, Violet Static are now ready to release a new full-length album, Naked and Crying; a compilation that exhibits just how much their music and style have grown and evolved over the years.
The proudly independent group are savvy marketers of their own music, booking their own tours, maintaining their own website, and doing their own promotion. Violet Static has been making their mark on the festival circuit, including Toronto, Ottawa and Kitchener/Waterloo Pride, and the local Toronto scene with key gigs at several notable clubs including the Opera House, El Mocambo, The Gladstone Hotel, The Drake Hotel, The Rivoli, The Reverb, Sneaky Dee's, Hard Rock Cafe's Club 279, C'est What, and the NOW Lounge.
Violet Static continues to make inroads into the Toronto music scene, and burgeoning interest in their music has taken them to other cities throughout the province as well. They're excited about where their musical journey will lead to and are looking forward to learning and growing along the way.
"Violet Static is a band we’ll be hearing a lot about in the future. Add yourself to their mailing list to hear about their upcoming shows."

"Vyletz rocks out on their colourful acoustic guitars with insightful lyrics and haunting harmonies. They're the kind of bar band that makes you shut up, put down your drink and take notice."
- Trish McKeough, Arthur - Trent University
"Somehow, Vyletz manage to wear every single emotion they have when they perform. With this honesty, they are even more forthright than anything or anyone else on stage."
- Daniel Cheung, www.themike.ca
