About Virginia Bluegrass & Country Music Foundation
Mr. George Winn, founder and president of the Virginia Bluegrass & Country Music Foundation, Inc. has worked a lifetime on this wonderful project. The foundation was chartered March 11, 1980. With total dedication and love for his music, George Winn created the foundation, and has worked for many years on membership. In 1995, with heart felt donations from various wonderful individuals, the foundation was able to purchase 21 acres of land in Lawrenceville, Virginia. With hard work and dedication, the land was turned into a beautiful park with water and electricity, as well as a nice stage with two dressing rooms.
In 1999, the board of Directors voted to dedicate the park as the George Winn Memorial Bluegrass & Country Music Park. Since its opening, the park has presented thirteen festivals. As luck would have it, for ten of these thirteen, the Good Lord also provided rain. With our track record for not so perfect weather, the foundation has now added a large pavilion, and now the show goes on rain or shine. Please take a moment to visit our Pictures Gallery where you can view some pictures of the pavilion construction.
With 27 years of hard work and dedication, the Virginia Bluegrass & Country Music Foundation is still alive thanks to its founder. Come join our family, take a short trip around our site, and we hope you like what you see. "God Bless" and see you at the park.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
