Virgo Degan brings you a pitch-perfect, unforgettable rendition of Minnie Ripertons torch classic "Lovin' You", remixed for modern dance-floors by todays top producers. Virgo's new version of "Lovin' You" is an energizing, contemporary take on Ripertons soulful anthem. Virgo cites Ripertons music as his biggest childhood influence as a singer, and his latest single serves as his personal acknowledgment to the artist who has most inspired him. Riperton passed away from breast cancer in 1978 at the young age of 31. Fittingly, Virgo is donating proceeds from sales of this single to the Minnie Riperton Breast Cancer Fund as a tribute to the original artist.
"Lovin' You" has already generated considerable early buzz from a special pre-release edit that received airplay months before the singles official release, on XM Satellite Radios Ultra Dance Channel and Indie 103.1 KDLD/KDLE and 88.9 KXLU in Los Angeles to promote National Cancer Awareness Month in October, 2005.
The "Lovin' You" maxi-single includes five sensational and electrifying remixes by some of the best up-and-coming DJs/producers in the country:Qubiq (Heaven 17s Hands Up to Heaven, Jackoff Bastards Black Leather), FunkFusion (Fatboy Slim pres. REDs Release the Pressure, Rosie Gaines Closer Than Close 2005) and infamous underground re-mixer Snatch Nubie, for whom "Lovin' You" represents his second officially-sanctioned release.
Virgo's unique ability to hit perfect high notes and his almost eight-octave range has already garnered him significant attention. After producing and performing on many demos for himself and other artists, and working as a session singer, he released his first commercial EP, "Yes, it is." in Fall of 2003 on fu2ah! Music. "Yes, it is." was produced by Chuck Henry of 10 West Productions and is an eclectic mix of digital and progressive rock, trance, and ballads. The track "Stop Sayin' That! (Dark Trance Mix)" from the EP won Garageband.com track of the day contest in April 2004 and again in January 2006. That song was also featured as Garageband.com dance track of the day in February 2004.
Although singing is Virgo's first love, his appealing all-American look has also led to a successful modeling career. Starting with a runway show led by Suzy Chapstick when he was 13, he went on to land contracts with The Dash Group and OTTO modeling agencies. Virgo has been the cover model for The Advocate and other magazines, and appeared in numerous health and fitness ads. He has been in prime-time commercials for Bally Total Fitness and Coca-Cola. Virgo's images have been used in greeting cards, calendars and collectables for 10 Percent Productions, and he was featured in art books from acclaimed photographer Steven Underhill. Virgo has also donated his services to appear in a controversial and attention-grabbing billboard and an advertising campaign for AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA), which can still be seen at many athletic facilities, health spas, and nightclubs throughout Southern California. Most recently, Virgo became a prestigious model for the popular Ed Hardy clothing line.
Modeling will always be secondary to Virgo's love of music and singing which moved him from New Jersey to New York to Los Angeles where he currently resides. He has a new album of standards and love songs currently in production that will include a ballad version of "Lovin' You" as well as covers of other timeless classics, including "Witchcraft", "What A Wonderful World" and "The Way You Look Tonight". This forthcoming project, due in early 2007, is entitled "Incurable Romantic", and will showcase Virgo's vocal diversity as he adapts his enormous range for these crooners.
