Virvel was founded in 2000, in Belgrade, Serbia. Its members are: Tijana Drobac: bass, vocal, Zoran Stojcic: guitar and noise, Milan Bukejlovic: drums, percussions, Dejan Drobac: guitar, emulator. Band members gained experience through years of work in several renowned Belgrade's bands before they have reached the top of their creativity under the name of Virvel. So far, the group has held countless successful concerts, and has recorded two albums.
Virvel is a unique appearance in the region of ex-Yugoslavia. Not being afraid to search through the sound and through their own emotions, the members of the band create an authentic sensibility which they all instinctively reached the moment they got together. Experimentation with almost every musical genre makes the concert of Virvel an exceptional experience. The sound of this band, usually described by critics as postrock, actually represents the creation of atmosphere of other possibilities by using the basic rock tools. Believing in the alternative reality, members of the band principally avoid the media. They release their albums in their own record label, choosing by themselves the people to collaborate with and the way to do it.

Jordan za one koji ne znaju svira jako igrivi lo-fi rock, često po recenzijama razvlačen između Fugazi i Q And Not U ili recimo At the Drive-In i The Rapture. Ono što je sigurno je da njihov live nastup stvarno ubija. Koncert koji će se desiti u Beogradu biće u sklopu kratke evropske turneje vezane za njihov prvi dugosvirajući album ''Oh no! We are dominos!'', koji je prekookeanska kao i deo evropske publike već imao prilike da čuje na minulim turnejama ovog benda u proteklih godinu dana.
Belgrade Noise i Went su već svima dobro poznata imena i oni će uz još sveži funk punk Salto Mortale Trio (Bubanj/Bas - The Schtrebers, Gitara/Vokal - Jaibo!) upotpuniti line up za ovu priliku.
Our new album "Herbarium" is
out now on CdBaby (MP3 so far, physical CD is on its way).
Diverse palette of styles (post-rock,
ambient, electronica, trip-hop, with elements of noise, dub,
neoclassic and free improvisation), united by cinematic, slightly
pensive mood.
«Herbarium» is called so
because of heterogeneity of «songs», which can be
compared to miscellaneous leaves in the album, still being belonged
to the family of trees. Trying to avoid non-alive metaphors here,
only thought of diversity and warm and innermost feeling that
herbarium is capable to conjure up. «... This leaf I picked up
in the park where I met her, and this - I sat by the river,
contemplating...». So tracks were created – one was captured
in some magic jam, another – recorded layer by layer and
meticulously mixed then, next – cut from previous sessions and so
on.
All compositions are united by Poostosh
sense of music – mostly pensive, spatial, tender and experimental.
There's a lot of soul and charisma in every leaf... So please let
your soul look over our HERBARIUM.
