Vishtèn est le cœur battant de la musique traditionnelle acadienne dans toute sa modernité. Les membres du groupe Vishtèn viennent de deux îles sœurs, l’Île du Prince Édouard et les Îles de la Madeleine. Ils ont grandi dans des communautés où la musique traditionnelle est riche, une culture qui a demeuré vivante pendant deux siècles et demi, où les chansons ont accompagné les premiers colons Français et où le violon a été influencé par les styles écossais et irlandais.
Le groupe se démarque partout où il joue, pour sa fougue, sa musicalité étonnante, son énergie communicative et son approche innovatrice à la musique distinctive de leurs régions maritimes.
Les membres sont tous multi instrumentistes, arrangeurs et compositeurs. Au cœur de leur musique, on trouve les rythmes endiablés qui apparaissent de façon constante dans leur répertoire. Vishtèn nous emmène dans un voyage au travers des siècles, par le biais d'une musique traditionnelle qui évolue au gré de leurs textes et compositions, ou des arrangements de anciens airs acadiens.
En 7 ans, ils sont devenus de véritables Ambassadeurs culturels, ils n'ont de cesse de diffuser ce patrimoine si exceptionnel, lorsque l'histoire ne s'est transmise que par les arts. En 2000, le groupe remporte ses premiers succès d'abord au Canada puis très vite aux États-Unis, France, Belgique, Hollande, Italie et la Suisse.

Vishtèn is the beating heart of modern traditional acadian music. The members of the group Vishtèn come from two sister islands, Prince Edward Island and the Magdelen Islands. They grew up in communities where the traditional music is very rich, a culture that was kept alive for two and half centuries, where the first French settlers brought their songs and where the fiddle was influenced by scottish and irish styles.
The group make their mark everywhere they play, with their high voltage style, musicianship, communicative energy and its innovative approach to the distinctive music of their maritime regions.
All members are multi instumentists, arrangers and composers. We find in the heart of their music, energetic rythms that constantly appear in their repertoire. Vishtèn takes us on a voyage through the centuries via their traditional music that evolves through their texts and compositions, or the arrangements of certain ancient Acadian melodies.
In seven years, they have become genuine cultural ambassadors. They never ceased to spread this exceptional heritage from a time when history did not become known except through the arts. In 2000, this group first experienced success first in Canada then very quickly in the United States, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy and Switzerland.
