"Electric Voice (Official Music Video)"
VitalLight is an electronic rock-n-roll band from Chicago, IL.
VitalLight is music and energy created in the furnace of Chicago’s music scene. A soaring voice, pounding drums, and rock’n’roll guitars crackling with electronic noise from four wild guys creating wonderful visual chaos on the stages they play. A year ago they were known as an electronic rock band from Iowa. Chicago has a way of making the strong stronger.
In early 2007 in Cedar Rapids, VitalLight brought together alt-rock guitars, vintage synth sounds, and a strong voice that is stadium-sized with a dedication to really big shows even in small clubs.
Upon moving to Chicago for both educational and musical opportunities, vocalist and lyricist Adam Novak, bassist and synthwiz Ryan Loftsgaarden, and drummer Cody Witt found a catalyst in guitarist (and also former Iowan) Mike Tracy. The resulting explosion of creativity yielded their first joint composition, “Universal Evil.” While the stage show was already powerful, the band blossomed into a sparks-inducing outfit while spewing forth challenging musical ideas that you could still rock out to. An early performance by this line-up was captured at Reggie’s Rock Club and presented online by The Belmont Sessions. VTV, found at www.vitallight.net, features even more recent and more rambunctious live video.
Their successful seven-song CD EP recorded in Los Angeles, "Turn On," has songs they still perform but the now sounds sedate compared to the onslaught of ideas now being recorded at various studios in Chicago. “Against The Wall” is the prime example of the new sound with lyrics based on a true incident involving the band, handcuffs, and the legendary Chicago police force.
These young rockers are serious about their music and performance and in concert the joy of the moment is contagious, creating a rapidly-growing fan following. That euphoria lasts post-show and be assured that VitalLight is not just more alternative angst- that fun and humor is essential to their attitude. When they begin their first truly national tour (having already hit the West Coast in early 2009), rhythm guitarist Dash Kirby will up the volume and intensity plus giving Tracy and Loftsgaarden more freedom to rock.
As for the name, Novak wanted something to reflect how important and fulfilling music is to his total existence. Exposure to the group on record or live confirms that idea and extends it to the ever-increasing audiences.

Hi! There used to be a brand of margarine over here in the UK called Vitalite. It had a cool TV advert to the tune of Desmond Dekker's "The Israelites". Genius... www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9CH1n9tNV0
