I was just about old enough to experience some of the epic white gloved horn blowing raves of the early 90's. I snuck out to Evolution at the Sanctuary aged 12, armed with a mates brother's National Insurance card to see DJ Randall. If I wasn't already hooked by the endless Dreamscape tapepacks permanently wired into my ears at school, that night sealed the deal.
It was around this time that I got my first set of decks and began collecting Vinyl. I became obsessed with Suburban Base records and the original hardcore sound of Dj Hype, Dj Crystal and D Cruze. The sound of the Amen break sounded so fresh back then, I had never heard beats like that before. I always wondered how these producers were making these seemingly impossible drum patterns.
It wasn't until many years later, when I discovered funk and rare groove that I realised where that original Amen breakbeat sample had come from. I was amazed that for all of those years I was buying records which were centered around this one drum sample. It seemed like that one four second drum loop could be cut up and recycled endlessly without ever sounding dull. It was not long before I obsessed about tracking down other original breakbeats from old funk records.
After years of Djing, playing drums and generally eating, sleeping and shitting beats, a friend introduced me to Acid Pro and Fruity Loops. He loaded me up with a huge library of beats, breaks and samples to get me started. I stayed up for 48 hours solid to finish my first track. 8 years later I am still hooked on sampling, cutting up breaks and making tracks.
I hope you enjoy my music! Cheers for swinging by,
