THE OFFICIAL 'VITAMIN F' MYSPCE
Vitamin F is a UK band that was formed little over two years ago out of a chance meeting at the Annual MAYC (Methodist Association Youth Clubs) event where Ian and Chris were working with a youth group from Ian’s church as weekend leaders.
Chris, who had written an abundance of plight and protest poetry, had been press-ganged into driving a group of the kids to the event, as there was a shortage of willing drivers, but he had no interest in faith, Christianity or God. He was linked to the church through his wife’s work in the church nursery but rarely, if ever, attended the services.
Whilst in Middlesbrough, in The United Kingdom, at the MAYC event, God took charge and Chris came to faith, with an almighty bang! (God built a new church in my heart).
Ian, who was a gigging musician and music teacher, had been a Christian for approximately two years at this point. They became friends after an evening of singing and playing around a beat up piano in a cold church hall and soon afterwards it seemed appropriate for Chris to ask Ian for help in writing a song. The words weren’t a problem as they flowed from Chris like never before, but the music was a different story. With melodies in mind Chris asked Ian to use his gifts and expertise in music to put together a whole song package, Ian gladly obliged and Vitamin F was born.
