Formed in the small cow-town of Greeley, CO in 2005 and transplanted into the growing, burgeoning scene that is Denver, Vitamins is a four-piece indie-rock band out to deconstruct the various genres from which they pull inspiration and forge a new, unique style altogether. Though the group’s latest output incorporate influences such as Cat Power, Pixies, Public Image Limited, Vaselines, and Blur, the quartet continues to defy traditional formal structures and arrangements, truly pushing the boundaries of what “indie-rock” as a genre is capable of achieving. With heavy guitars, metronomic grooves, texturally psychedelic vamping builds and beautiful, ethereal vocalism, Vitamins add up to a truly fresh sound in 2009: often dark and brooding while simultaneously light-hearted and fun. The band currently boasts a strong following in the Denver area and is fresh off a highly successful West Coast tour. The future for the fearless foursome looks bright - more shows, more new songs, and pulse-pounding excitement at every turn are sure to follow. Throughout the group’s four-year career, they have successfully recorded and self-released three collections of songs - a 2005 self-titled EP, the full-length Calliope in 2008, and a brand new mini-LP, Songs for Stem Cells, out earlier this year.
