Vittorio Gauci, born under the zodiac sign of Libra - 15th October 1986, comes from the town of Sliema. His hard work in the cultural field; made him become a promising singer in the Maltese Islands. He started singing at the age of 9 and enlarged his talents by studying voice under the tuition of Mrs. Micallef Grimaud, both lyrical and pop/rock. He participated in a number of cultural events, such as: festival, shows and cultural evenings, organised by local promoters. He had the opportunity of participating in two big festivals, “The Gozo Music Festival” which took place in March 2003. He was the only Maltese guest and sang with Magic Box, Ingrid and Gabri Ponte. The second opportunity was “The Sole Festival” took place in Dwejra Bay in August 2003. He was amongst a number of local talented singers as well as a number of international guests: Linda lee Hopkins, Colletti and the Gospel Girls, Maya (Holy Ghost), Marvin Prezioso and Dani Deejay. He was awarded the Promising singer of the Year by the Dynamic Promotions.
In 2003 Vittorio released his first CD album which holds 15 songs, 3 of which are original composed specially for him. “Kif Inbdilt”, “Show Me the Way” and “Fid-Djarju tad-Destin”. The others are all cover versions in English and Italian. He participated in various musicals, such as “Jesus Christ Superstar”, “Beatle Mania”, “Some Enchanted Evening”, “Music of the Night”, “Sound of Music”, “Fever” the Madonna story, “Cats” and “Phantom of the Opera”.
Vittorio was also chosen from a number of local singers to be a resident singer for nine weeks on a local television programme, “Maratona’. Moreover he participated in a number of Maltese Song Festivals: in winter 2004 he came first from the public votes in the “Super One Festival” organized by the “FIDOF” with the song 'Iz-Zoghzija' written by Vittorio Gauci and composed by Elton Zarb. He also participated in another Song Festival “Fl-Ghaqda Il-Melodija” in 2001 where he and the female singer Justine achieved the first place and the best interpretation of the song 'Fid-Djarju tad-Destin' written by Deo Grech and composed by Andrew Zahra. In the Festival “Ghanja tal-Poplu” organised by the YTC in 2004, he interpreted the song “U jghaddi Iz-Zmien” written by Ray Mahoney and composed by Josette Sciberras. He also participated in the “Festival Indipendenza 2004” with the song “Inharsu ‘l-Pajjizna”, written by Alan Fenech and composed by Augusto Cardinali which took place in Sir Temi Zammit Hall, at the University Complex. In April 2005, Vittorio participated again in the song festival 'Fl-Ghaqda l-Melodija', as a duet with Charlene Vella. They interpreted the song 'Imhabba Zaghzugha' which was written by Paul Callus and composed by John David Zammit. Vittorio participated in the ‘Malta Hit Song Festival’ in 2007 with the song ‘I will take my chance’ composed by Renato Briffa and written by Georgina Abela. In 2008 Vittorio together with a female singer named Dorothy participated in the festival ‘Ilwien L-Istilel’ and placed 1st with the song ‘Amen’ penned by Chan Vella and Alexia Schembri.
Nevertheless Vittorio was a Guest of the Ministry of Tourism – in Tunisia Carnival 2003 Island of Djerba. Vittorio was chosen to represent Malta in the “Golden Rose 2004 Song Festival” which took place in Tibilisi, Republic of Georgia, between the 21st and 28th of November 2004, he was given the Best Price Interpretation in Maltese. In September 2005, Vittorio was the only Maltese to participate in the “Europop Festival 2005” which took place in Zenica, Bosnia & Herzegovina, he participated with the song “Show me the Way” author Deo Grech composer Andrew Zahra and placed 2nd from 22 singers. On the 17th of June 2006 Vittorio participated in an international Festival Microfono D’Oro that was held In Italy Modena, Mirandola. From 100 songs that were submitted, 12 songs were chosen and Vittorio passed to participate. He came 1st and also having the best lyrics with an original Italian song called ‘Giorni’ written by Noel M. Matrenza and composition by Andrew Zammit.
He participated twice in a fund raising campaign which was called ‘Heart of Gold’ organized by the young talent team in Razzett Tal-Hbiberija where he sang with a live band of Maestro Andrew Zammit. Vittorio also sings in weddings and receptions, and other activities.
While Vittorio was attending Vocaltech College in London studying the 1year Diploma course, he took part in a musical that was held at the London Palladium on Sunday 4th March 2007, that is called ‘Broadway Melodies’, were he had the opportunity to sing solo, a duet and with groups.
As Vittorio came back to the Maltese Islands, he found himself busy again in the cultural field and found certain opportunities. He started being a resident singer on a local television program ‘Showtime Stairway to Success’ and ‘Allegria’, He also performed in various concerts, he started composing music and writing lyrics, and he kept on learning his voice under the tuition of Ms. Denise Mulholland.
